  1. Can I use an Attar oil or a perfume oil to make a candle? Is fragrance oil and perfume oil almost the same? I know that there are some oils you cannot use for candle making and was wondering if this one an example of one of them. The Parfumerie has the Rose scents I was looking for but I dont know if perfume oil is used for candles?
  2. I have been wanting to make a few candles for my personal use for the longest. I finally pulled the trigger and bought a starter kit with soy wax and the basics such as pouring pot etc etc. I like to read the different posts and after reading about wax, wicks and finding the right wax/wick combo before adding the fragrance oils, Im starting to think I may have biten off more than I can chew. I really do not know the first thing about candle making. The only good thing I would say is that I am a fast learner and try to learn by others mistakes so that may help me as I walk blindly through the world of candle making. LOL Im starting to doubt my decision as I read through all of the different aspects of candle making and how complex it actually is. If anyone would have any advice before I start this journey that may help me make one less mistake ( mistakes will start eating up my wallet), then please enlighten me. I feel foolish asking some of the basic questions after reading the comments from some of the pros on this forum because ! I know so little. Are there any videos or online courses that I should take besides just reading all of the helpful info on various candle sites before I attempt the art of candle making?
  3. I am as new as it gets to candle making and I wanted to know the general rule of thumb about adding fragrance oil to wax. How much fragrance do I need to add per oz of wax? Any suggestions would be really appreciated!
  4. I saw a few electric heating plates s or electric hot plates for candle making on Amazon. Does anyone use these things or do most candle makers use the melting container in a pot of water on the stove? Im deciding whether it would be easier to just use one of these.
  5. Yes , that is exactly what I plan on doing myself. I plan on mixing a few scents that I used when I made custom body lotions and oils from a store in the Galleria in Houston that was round in the late 90"s early 2000"s. It closed years ago and I cant think of the name of it.
  6. I came across New York Scent while recently looking for luxurious frangrance oils. They seem to have a good selection with lots of scents. Has anyone ever ordered any fragrance oils from them? I would love to know more about the quality of their oils. Any information would be appreciated. https://newyorkscent.com/
  7. Mythreindeer, do you have suggestions on where I could buy something compariable with professional perfumers or premium fragrance oils. I have read the post about the different suppliers and I have looked at all of them but still cant tell who has the best scents. Price is no issue and you pay for what you get so Im willing to pay high dollar for the better fragrance oils. I just didnt know which one to start with.
  8. Hello everyone! Im new to the forum and I'm excited and thankful to find this forum! Does anyone know where Tyler Candle Company buys their fragrance oils from? Do they hand craft all of their scents? Im looking for luxurious, premium fragrance oils. I read through all of the fragrance chats about suppliers but there are so many, it can be overwhelming. I dont mind spending $$$$ on premium oils, I just didnt know which ones I could start with that offer what Im looking for. Any help would be appreciated!!!
