I have been using the 464 and am currently testing the 444. Basically I have scent throw issues with the 464 (in my opinion, but many of my buyers say its fine?!) and had heard great things about the 444 on this board. After LIMITED testing i can say this: the 464 is "easier to work with" and pours hotter BUT I got good initial results with the 444 by pouring at 150...not too bad! The tops were almost perfect at that temp and I got minimal initial frosting (don't know about longer term...still need to test!). I only had to wick up 1 size (cd12's to cd14's) which is also not too bad. Regarding hot throw...this is more difficult... from what I can tell, 444 has performed well and may throw a little better that the 464...but i really need to do side by side testing to be sure. I just poured some testers and, so far, pouring at 150 for me (surprisingly)provided the best results...a 90% smooth top. The cooler i poured, the rougher the tops. My kitchen stays quite warm during the pouring process and i use 8oz tins. I was very happy with the results so far...now i just need to let the candles cure to test scent throw.

I will be testing the 444 as well soon (currently use the 464). I really am hoping for better hot throw on more scents. I wonder if there is a testing thread for this wax?? Haven't done my homework yet...

I have sketchy scent throw with the 464 with alot of scents...a few throw quite well but MOST do not...I waste alot of money on testers!! It sounds like the hot throw of the 444 is better. That would be great. I hope the 44 is not hard to wick...I had a super easy time wicking and working with the 464...which is why I have stuck with it so far. I am ordering a few pounds of the 444 as we speak, though. Thanks!

I haven't had any problems like this...but i have an unopened 50lb box at home right now.I will check it and see. For the people who have switched frm 464 to 444...how much are you having to wick up (generally)? I use cd 12's in almost all my scents with the 464. Accoring to the melt point of the 444 its seems I might have to wick up 1 size (approx). Is that about right?? Thanks!! I've been thinking of trying the 444 as well. Scent throw is REALLY hit and miss with the 464. But super easy to work with (for me at least!).

ICS Brown Sugar Pecan- you can really smell the "nuts", its not too sweet.JS Chestnuts and Brown Sugar- really strong but a little too sweet for me.Those are the only 2 I've tried. Good luck!!

Regarding scent throw...bes sure you "cure" your candles a MINIMUM of 1 week...and I mean 7 days!! ;-) More, if you can. I was a parrafin person and was sceptical about this whole "curing" thing at first (I thought it must be an urban myth or something!). But, sure enough...the longer you let it sit, the stronger it smells!! Some scents will just never work in particular waxes, though, no matter how long you cure. And some waxes are more "particular" than others. You just have to do alot of testing. Good luck!

Well...I use GB 464 and this looks about right to me...Soy candles just seem to set up ugly after burning. I was horrified too but got over it. None of my customers seem to mind. Good luck!

Thanks...I will check candlewic again. I'm not sure what kind of bottles they package their dyes in though...I think i read that they are not dropper bottles.

Does anyone know who is selling EVO dyes these days?? Candlewic only has 3 colors available (according to their website, anyway). After searching previous threads, I called Just By Nature and they confirmed that their liquid dyes were NOT Evo dyes. Northstar has a limited color selection as well (I urgently need at least 1oz of yellow). Anyone know of another supplier? I also did a google search with no luck. Thanks in advance....Lili

Another non-gusher here...I detest their website and will/can only order by phone. I think its unacceptable that you can't get an accurate shipping quote on their website. They also hassled me about some bad wick stickers and ALMOST didn't send me new ones...I had to argue around and around that the last batch I had received were defective as 8 out of 10 were coming unglued. They tried to tell me it was me...wash out the jars, pouring temp, etc. I tried to explain that I had been making candles for awhile and NOTHING HAD CHANGED in my "routine" so it had to be the stickers. After being very condescending to me they finally relented and sent me out a new roll...which worked FINE!!! All of $2.00. That left a very bad taste in my mouth. I prefer to deal with ICS who have been FLAWLESS to deal with so far.

I have burned it and i think it smells exactly like men's cologne. I don't think iy smells "herbal" at all. Some people like it but it doesn't sell well for me and I'm going to drop it from my "line".

I have found that pouring between 150 and 160 was the "sweet spot" with gb 464. Pouring under 150 actually caused more frosting and lumpiness for me. I have come to accept a little frosting around the edge of my tin. If (over time) I get more, I hit it with the heat gun and comes out pretty good. I also use the Evo dyes.

I "second" Pink Sugar, Japanese Plum and Raspberry Lemonade. All delicious, strong and good sellers. I also like/use Tulips & Currant...also a regular seller. For the holidays I started selling Brown Suger Pecan which smells DELICIOUS. But my best seller is Mango Papaya...I personally think its too sweet and doesn't smell "fruity" enough but people LOVE it. Go figure!

I am crossing my fingers they throw in my wax!!! I think I'll give them at least 1.5 weeks cure time, just to be sure. I may rename the coffe caramel cream 'caramel macchiato'.

I just poured: cinammon toasted almonds bedford falls chipotle cracked pecan coffee cramel cream So far they all smell great but the coffee caramel cream stands out! It is delicious! Now I'm just praying for good hot throw (after 1+ week of curing,of course. My wax is very finicky for hot throw: gb 464). I ordered a total of 16 scents...all smell great oob, shipping was quick and inexpensive. Kudos for Candle Source! Lili

I "second" Hyacinth Chula Orchid from JS...a very beautiful scent with good throw.

I think this wax is supposed to be poured "hot." I've poured it as high as 160 and actually get better results than if i pour under 150. I'm glad I don't need any really special cooling procedure...!
