  1. I'd love to know where to get a few of these as well....if you don't mind. Thanks in advance!!
  2. Thanks all! I'm going to head to the dungeon this afternoon to do a few things and while I'm at it, I just "have to" try some of these scents. I'm thinking that I'll make myself a wickless jar and a few tarts with a few of these scents. (might even dip a bear....lol) What the heck!! I'll let you all know the outcome. By the way - since she was generous enough to give up all this stuff, I'm thinking that maybe I'll make her a killer "thank you" basket. Inside, i'll put a warmer and a bazillion tarts (some made with her scents - if they work). I figure that's the least I can do as she seriously gave me 43 (16oz.) bottles of scents - most of which were full (or nearly full) As I said - it was like Christmas here!!!
  3. I don't post often, but I have a question that I'm hoping that someone can help me with. A friend of mine made candles - quite a few years ago. I'm honestly not sure how long ago. She's in process of moving and found a case of jars as well as a bunch of bottles of scents in her basement. She generously gave them to me. It was like Christmas that day lol. BUT - I have NO idea how old these bottles of scents are. They're from Missy's Candle Supply. (out of Ohio, I believe) I've tried to find it online, and came up with nothing. None of the bottles are "sucked in" on the sides - which I hear sometimes occurs with older oils. Is this stuff safe to use? I thought that maybe I'd make them into tarts/melts as I make quite a few of these. But, I'm a little nervous. Should I just toss the whole bunch of it? I'm at wits end here - as they smell absolutely wonderful ,,,, but....how old is too old? Any advise would be greatly appreciated....
  4. I only know a Canadian supplier but thought you may want to check her out. I've purchased them from here and they don't have paper attached to the foil. There is a layer of paper between each foil but not attached. (at least the ones that I purchased didn't have a paper backing) You may want to give her a call to be sure that she still has the kind that you want. Her name is Sue. http://www.saffireblue.ca/packaging/foil_packaging_index.html
  5. Louise- I have this "wooden thing" - for lack of better words, in my window ledge, that my Grandma had for years. I don't know what she used it for. It kind of looks like a mallot with a rounded end. So - when I was pressing the bath bomb into the cupcakes I glaced up and noticed it. I washed it off and added a little saran wrap around the end and pressed down hard. It worked like a charm. My daughter laughed at me because I actually had a real use for this "dust collector".....
  6. Sabrina: I pm'd you a very loooonnng message.....lol Almost a book!!!!
  7. Thanks all! Lyndsay, I just played early one afternoon - not sure how long it took to actually make them. BUT I DO KNOW that if I can do it, anyone can... I think it took me longest to try to figure out how to put the topping on half way decent...lol. Guess I should have paid more attention to when Mom used to do cupcakes....lol Thanks again all!!
  8. Thanks all! I did try to whip some m&p soap in with the FBB first, but it made it the devil to pipe on top. That's why I went with the shea butter...lol. I may try again with soap sometime...but for now, I'll use these up...lol The bath beads are a cute idea too!! Will keep that in mind...
  9. Those are way too cute. I'm definitely going to have to order a little bit more m&p soap and see what "creations" I can come up with. Thanks for the inspiration....lol
  10. Thanks all! And, yes, they were a lot of fun to make. I'm already planning another batch but possibly mixing the m&p curly things into a batch of cp soap. I'm thinking that I'd like a summer scent. Haven't planned it 100% yet, but will be sure to let you know how they turn out.
  11. Ok, this is all that I have for pics. I'm new to adding pictures and don't know how to make them bigger....sorry. The last one is when it was still in the mold. Thought I'd throw it in...
  12. I totally agree about the cp soap. I cp'd some about a week ago but I did the top a pink color (unscented) and I'm waiting patiently for the bottom to turn brown.....It was the only way I could think of to embrace the inevitable....lol
  13. I thought I'd try a different approach at bath bombs. Since I absolutely suck at forming them into molds, I tried the "cupcake" idea that some have done. (thank you for the idea) This one is actually a 2 in 1 bath item. The bottom is the typical bath bomb recipe that will fizz when put into the bath. The top is a mixture of bubbling bath butter with some shea butter added. I whipped it and piped it onto the top of the bath bomb. It comes off separately from the bath bomb. I have a few people trying them together in one bath (which I did and it was awesome). I asked a few others to try them separately. (hence the 2 in 1 gift..lol) Someone suggested that I try using the top for a shaving lotion, but haven't gotten that far yet. I found some cupcake boxes at a party store and they fit perfectly in them. Please forgive the terrible pictures as I'm not really good at that yet. Thanks for looking!!
  14. I usually do cp soap but was asked to do a few soaps for a girls birthday party and didn't have time for cp to cure so I thought I'd try my hand at m&p soap. The curly/chunks are scented pink sugar and the white is chocolate scent. I was pleasantly surprised to smell these mixed together. Next are the same pink sugar curly / chunks poured into clear soap (which is also scented pink sugar) I hope they're a hit with the girls. Thanks for looking!
  15. Thanks all. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought of that. Maybe I'll post a little sign stating that i "can" color it if they want. And I'll scoot them down to my dungeon and give them a quick coloring for those requesting it. That way, I won't have to color anything that doesn't sell. (except, maybe I'll have samples of different colors for all to see...). You see, my mind is always racing in 100 different directions....which I'm sure that most of you can relate to..... Thanks very much for the tips ladies!!! You're the best!!!:highfive:
  16. No, i don't have any food coloring in house....lol. (Believe it or not) I leave the baking for my mom....lol. I didn't think about it being water based. Now I feel like a schmuck for not thinking it....)hence - the name ditzy - lol) Maybe I'll ask mom to try it on her kit and give me some feedback....but I'm having doubts now about it working. Oh well. It was just a thought. Thanks for reply
  17. Would it be ok for me to suggest to people that if they "want" their diffuser oils a certain color, that it would be ok for them to use food coloring? The reason I'm asking is I have done a Spring Open house (around Mother's Day) and did very well. I've been asked to do a Christmas open house too. For my spring one, I sold quite a few reed diffuser kits. I also offered refill bottles for people who wanted extra oils. (they could mix and match scents if desired). For the Christmas one I'm trying to be a little bit more creative. I'll offer the same kits that I had at the previous show but, I also purchased a few old medicine bottles that I found at a huge yard sale. I made some for myself using these bottles, and people loved them. Well, for one bottle, I put medium sized red stones in the bottom to add a little pizzazz (sp?). The few who saw it, loved it. The thing is, I don't want to color my refill bottles, in case I'm stuck with a bunch of red or blue colored refill bottles. Soooo - I was hoping that someone would chime in and let me know if it's ok for me to tell people that it's ok for them to add food coloring to their jars if they wanted.... Sorry that I'm soooo winded here - for such a simple question....lol Thanks in advance!!
  18. Those are absolutely beautiful. I was wondering if you just put seashells along the sides of it (say some at the bottom and a few random throughout) would it be safe to burn it? Just a thought... Again - absolutely beautiful!
  19. Thanks very much! Today, I should be organizing stuff that has needed my attention for about two months. It's one of those jobs that you just hate to start as it usually takes longer to do than you think or want, soooo, maybe I'll put it off until next weekend....lol.
  20. Hi all! I decided awhile back to do a small open house. Today was the day! I've spent the last few months preparing for this. I didn't advertise. Instead, I sent out invites. As well, I told them to bring people who may enjoy seeing what I do. I put a time from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on it. Well - it worked out great! There was a steady stream of people come through here between about 10:30 until about 1:00, with only a few after that. I designated part of a small room for this - setting up shelves and lighting etc and filled the shelves with pretty much everything. (from candles to b&b products) Women were waiting in my kitchen until the room cleared a little bit because it was small, but didn't seem to mind. A few went back in numerous times because they "forgot" to get something...lol. Total sales today were nearly $700. (with a few orders on top of that) I was impressed. The hard work for the past few months paid off. I know that most of you in here would make well over that amount, but it was my first open house. I think I'll do it again at Christmas! And, I might advertise next time. Who knows.. Anyway - all in all it was a good day!!
  21. I sent you another e-mail. Not sure what to do if this one doesn't work...lol. I'm not really an expert at this computer thing....lol. I would suggest that you e-mail Doneen at the candle cauldron if this doesn't work. I'm sure she will help you out. Good luck!
  22. I'm not sure if this will help you, but I could open it, copy it and paste it onto an e-mail and send it to you. I'm not sure if that will help you or not, but maybe you could figure out how to paste it from the e=mail to a program that you do have on your computer. I'll try to send you one, ok? If it works, I'll do the same to the rest. Just let me know. Good luck! Dawn

    wood roses?

:rolleyes2 Ok, I have a dumb question.....wood roses? Do they look real? I have absolutely NO idea anything about them. Where do you find these? I suppose it would be everlasting, so how would you dust them? LOL. Sorry for all the questions....just curious...
  24. I'm sorry, I forgot to tell you that I used the Super Sculpey type. Not the firm one, just the normal one. It was easy to work with. Had to soften it up a bit with hands first when I took it from package, but it was rather easy to use. As I said, I'm not an expert as I've only done my two angels...lol. But, it was fun. Hope this helps.
