  1. Thank you very much!! I thought that was how it worked, but I have not used it for sending money in such a long time that I could not remember. Kristy
  2. I was wondering if any of you can help me. I was going to instant transfer some money (for a puppy i am buying) to another paypal account. My problem is that I realized that I don't have enough on my available balance to cover the transfer. I was going to add funds, but it says that it takes 3-5 days to do that. I do have it backed up with a credit card but my bank account is not verified (name is slightly different on my bank account than paypal so I can't get it instantly verified). Do you think paypal would take the difference off my credit card? Would it just not go through? The person would take a check to hold the puppy, but that would take a couple of days to get to them and I don't want to lose this dog. Help please!! Kristy
  3. Thank you all for your input. I knew that I could count on you for great information.
  4. I am not sure where this question would fit, but I thought I would go to all of you first. I have a couple of bottles of soy oil and a couple of pounds of smelly jelly beads just sitting here. I would rather use them if possible instead of selling them for next to nothing. Anyway, my question is, can't you use soy oil for cooking or is that just gross? Also, could I add the smelly jelly beads to my house plants to help with keeping them moist longer? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. TIA, Kristy
  5. I knew I could count on you guys!! thanks for your advice and I am going to email her asking to cancel the payment and send it to my current paypal account. I will keep my fingers crossed!! Thanks again, Kristy
  6. I just had an auction end on ebay. The last few transactions that I had I used my current paypal. Well, one of the buyers sent payment (before being invoiced) and sent it to a paypal account that I have not used in years. That email is cancelled, and I cannot remember the password to try to open it through paypal. Anyway, the buyer sent me an email telling me that the payment was pending and that I need to go to paypal and accept it. Is there a way for the buyer to cancel that payment and send it to my existing paypal? Any advice and fast would be greatly appreciated. Kristy
  7. Has anyone else had the problem that a fo has a better hot/cold throw in the pillar blend as compared to the container. I have noticed it with both the cba and the 135 when compared to the pillar. It makes it difficult when I want to use the same fo in the two different waxes.
  8. That was me!! Still have not solved the problem, so I am getting rid of all my 16oz apothecary and going to try another jar. I had this problem with several different types of wicks and I also tried to reduce my percentage of fo. I have concluded that it is the air flow into the container when it gets to a certain point. my 10oz jars I do not seem to have a problem with. Sorry I could not help more. Kristy
  9. Thanks! I think then I will try to make the soap. It looks like it would be more cost effective that way.
  10. Thanks a lot! I bought it to make whipped shea, but I don't think it will hold long enough before I (or family) could use it. (I am no longer able to do shows, so it would be for family, friends, and personal use). If I do make it into soap, is there a shelf life?
  11. I have 10 lbs of shea, 4 lbs soy oil and 4 lbs of sweet almond oil. I have been trying to sell it, but no interest. Is there some type of soap I can make that is easy to make? I am a soy candle person so no experience with soap. Willing to try.
  12. Hi everyone! I am trying to get rid of my supplies and I was hoping someone would be able to help me out. I have a listing in the classified section so please look at it. I have ecosoya cba and pillar blend in addition to apothecary jars. I will ship from Maryland the cheapest way possible. Maybe you can save a couple of bucks and help me out at the same time. Thanks
  13. Thank you. I needed a little good news for once!
  14. Can cooling too slow cause you to lose scent? I have been cooling my jars in the box with some newspaper around them so they don't crack. It has been working but I was wondering if I am hurting the scent in anyway?
  15. How much heat does it take to weaken the jars? If you are using soy wax you are pouring at a low temperature, and the wax I use, the melt pool doesn't get hotter than 125 degrees. Also if you have your wick right where the outside of the glass container doesn't get hot to the touch, glass should not be stressed. I guess I am just confused on how it would weaken the glass. What about Mason jars? When you can with them the temps are a lot higher and my family has used the same jars for many, many years without a problem. I know that Mason jars are a different glass than say the apothecary jars, but if the jar is made for candle making, it should be able to handle a high temp. What about the many candle makers that refill customers jars for a reduced price?
  16. I have this idea to try a container candle with sand on the bottom and soy wax on top. Just a half inch on the bottom, maybe place some embeds around the outside and the rest of the candle would be my regular soy candle. Has anyone tried this with anything else but gel? I am not interested in placing embeds in the wax, just the sand. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!
  17. You know, I have not tried the single wick. For the last two years I have used the regular cb135 mixed with some of the ecosoya pillar blend (it gave it nice smooth tops similar to the advanced, but with the frosting), and did not have any luck with the single. This go around, I just started with the double out of habit I guess. I am going to try wicking up to the 16 and also doing the single. I also make the 10oz in the same jar only difference is it is shorter. I guess I need a larger wick to compensate for the lack of oxygen. Does that sound right? Please forgive me if I am talking in circles. I have had a lot of issues this last week with suppliers, FedEx, wicks, preservatives, etc! How did I get into this mess... (LOL)!!
  18. Thank you all for your input. It is much needed and appreciated. The nice thing with the lx14s is that I never have to trim my wicks!!! That was a plus since I am guilty of not trimming as well as you are suppose to before I started making them. Guilty as charged!! With not having to trim them, I guarantee that my customers will have close to the same results I have (eliminating one variable). In addition, I have only used 1oz FO per pound of wax, so I don't think it is a FO problem. Has anyone tried an lx16 or 18? I am using EcoSoya cba.
  19. I have tried cd, rrd, htp and papercore. I like the lx series b/c I really do not have any problem with mushrooming. Oh, BTW I dbl the lx14...ooops!
  20. I have been testing a 16oz apoth. jar for awhile now and like the burn I have been getting. My question is, when it gets to the last 1/3 of the jar, the flame gets a lot smaller. I still get my melt pool, and the scent is still wonderful, I was just wondering if this is normal b/c of the oxygen levels this deep into the container. I don't want to wick up b/c the flame size is on the higher end of good in the beginning, really good toward the middle, and then it gets small toward the end. Hope this makes sense to everyone. I am using a LX14 in soy wax.
  21. Could you send me one too? k3655@yahoo.com. thanks - Kristy
  22. Do you put an expiration on your product at all?
  23. Thanks to everyone for your posts! I have taken the information that you have provided and began doing some research on the subject of preservatives. I am however, wondering if anyone out there stays away from the preservatives, adds vitamin E and extensive labeling and education to their customers about the proper storage and use of the body butters? I have mentioned to some of my testers the possibility of adding a preservative and they did not like the idea at all. They liked that it was preservative free and "back to basics" so to speak. I am sooooo confused at this point. Should I just make it in every small batches right before shows with no preservatives and place an expiration date of 6 months from time of production, and tell people to keep it in a cool, dark place or in the refriderator? Or, should I add a preservative and lose that niche of the market who are looking for a more "natural" (term used loosely b/c of synthetic fragrance and refined butter) product. Who knew that this would be so indepth when I started soy candles 2 years ago!! How did a hobby become so stressful LOL!!!
