  1. Great news for State Farmers! I just got off the phone with my rep - they don't consider window or magnetic decals as turning your vehicle into a commerical one UNLESS you use the vehicle 100% of the time commerically, but just driving around to work, school, etc. doesn't make it commericial. Whew! I was worried there for a few minutes.
  2. I'd be interested in knowing this as well. I see a few here promoting Avon or Mary Kay - since I make my own goodies, I'm not real interested in calling 'em, but it does grab my attention. I just wonder if my attention is grabbed because I'm considering implementing the same marketing strategy or if it's actually something that catches everyone's eye. Hmmm.
  3. Hi Michael, Try http://www.grsites.com/fonts/b024.shtml.
  4. I'm in Central Louisiana (Pineville -just outside of Alexandria). The Dogwood Festival is supposed to be a big arts & crafts festival in Pollock. I've never been to it and only going by what the coordinator is telling me (I'm a homebody and don't get out much either)... the URL below lists Pollock's demographics - I couldn't find their "official" site.. http://www.epodunk.com/cgi-bin/popInfo.php?locIndex=3532 Looks like their population is a bit over 300, but the festival is supposed to draw hundreds from all over CenLa. Their 12 x 12 space rental is $25, not bad in comparison to Austin, TX. LOL.
  5. Was wondering who you use for magnetic car decals? Or the window peel & stick kind?
  6. Was wondering if anyone is planning on, or would like to share a 12 x 12 "space," at the upcoming Dogwood Festival? It's this Saturday - I know it's real short notice...I just found out about it myself Friday. I'll only be displaying our Shea Body Butter, so if you would like to share a space, please don't bring your lotions or body butters - any other craft is AOK.
  7. Hello everyone. I've got a "thing" for cutesy illustrations and fonts (my daughter laughs at me), but I'd like to use some of my favorites for our logo and another set of cutesies for the labels. I want to look professional, but still have a bit of humor, even if it is only an image. Can I get your opinion, please? Labels: http://www.pampermepotions.com/test.pdf I'm kind of partial to those on the second row, but now sure if the have too much text on them. Logo:
  8. Oh bummer. Too bad about the copyright issue. The logo is gorgeous.
  9. Like the other ladies, mine is an ever-changing work in progress. No pictures up yet (waiting for my daughter to get them off the digital camera), but will eventually have pictures of my aunt's candles & hand-made jewelry and mine & my daughter's shea body butter souffle. I used css for the tables - I taught myself, which is probably why the site is still in progress. LOL. The URL is: http://www.pampermepotions.com.
  10. Sorry to hear about the show Veronica. Hopefully the next one will be better. Your display and candles look great. Were you able to pass out many business cards? I hope so - I get a little business through my cards.
  11. I'm with CraftyChris. I love it. I thought the photographs were especially good. I seem to have the biggest problem with getting a really good shot of my products. Sigh. But yours were just the right size and the color was sharp. Good luck with it
  12. I've only been making candles a few weeks and whewwww is it hard work! I can't imagine, but I guess we all have hopes Right now I have a friend locally who makes mine until I perfect the goop I usually turn out. I admire you ladies that have been with it so long! Grumpy Girl - Good to see someone else from here. I'm in Pineville, hoping to hit the Dogwood Festival with my lotions next weekend.
  13. Thanks bunches KFTS for taking the time to answer my questions. I'll definitely be looking up those companies. Candle Man - I had no idea soy was considered vegetable wax since I'm completely new to it. I'll check out that area in a few minutes.
  14. I'm toying with the idea of making soy candles and have a few crazy questions for the experts here... 1) In your opinion, what's the best brand of FO to use - I tend to like strong scents? 2) In your opinion, what's the brands to stay away from? 3) I have tons of EO for my shea body butter and through research found that many of them are flammable. Are FO usually flammable? How does that work when it's included in the candle? OK I through with my crazy questions and off to explore the techniques site fully
  15. Haven't tried this one yet... please let me know if it works for you. Grapefruit EO would probably be a nice sub. I'll got through my other recipes and post more later. Shea Lemon Mousse 20 oz. Shea Butter 2 oz. Jojoba Oil 3 T Lemon EO 2 T Vanilla or Coconut Oil Weigh butter and oil in metal bowl. Do not heat or melt. Begin blending with a hand mixer until light & fluffy. Add EO and continue to whip until well incorporated. Dollop into 4 oz jars. Makes 8 jars.
  16. I think the subtle colors are very sheik (spelling?). I like it. Bet the Ginger spells yummy!

    new here..

Hi Latch! I'm somewhat of a newbie, too. This is such an informative board. I have a recipe for face cleanser to relieve acne from positivehealth.com. Been meaning to blend a batch for my daughter, but haven't had the time. ACNE TONER 7 drops of Bergamot EO 5 drops of Sandalwood EO 3 drops of Lavender EO 40ml (1.3 oz.) Rose Water or Unscented Toner
  18. Thanks for sharing the recipes ladies. I've been looking for something with Soy.
  19. I like the color one, too.
  20. Hello everyone. Hope I'm posting to the right area... we're having a expo of women entrepreneurs @ my place of employment in April. Tables are $25 - only a very limited number is available. Last year there was approximately 200 people/buyers who attended. If you're around the Pineville area and are interested in participating, please email me for a vendor application.
  21. I have to agree with the other ladies. Your candles look great! I couldn't tell about the leakage at all.
  22. Such lovely examples. Your products are so well packaged! Do you need any more in the co-op? Being new I'm still lost as to exactly how the co-op works, but will gladly contribute to get those size labels!
  23. Hi Stephanie, I have several recipes I'll be glad to share with you, most are Shea Butter Body Mousse since that's the butter I like most. I haven't had time to try them all so can't promise the quality of the recipe, but if you'd like them, be glad to post. :tiptoe:
  24. Hi there! I can't help you with your problem, but wanted to give you encouragement. I'm into body butter now and my first two batches were terrible. I was so aggravated, but determined. I finally figured it out. Perhaps that will happen for you too - keep trying, don't give up! I'm sure one of the nice ladies here can offer some good suggestions.
