Okay, well here's what's happening.....I decided I didn't like the zinc wicks after all. Soooo, I stuck in a CD 12 (this is with the sq. mason jar) and it seems to be doing well. I'm not sure this is "THE" wick I'm looking for, but I think it does burn hotter and steadier than the zinc. I don't know though, I may be way off here. Does anybody ever burned an entire tester candle and still be back to square one? :undecided

Wow, double wick that container? I thought double wicking was for the large containers with big openings. Learn something new every day! May have to try that out. Thanks!

Thanks! I went ahead and used 1.5 oz. of FO per lb. of wax because I read where Joy would hold more, so of course I thought more would be better! Aparently not.:embarasse I'll try and cut it back to 1 oz. and see if that makes a difference.

Hi all! I've been reading alot on this forum, so I decided to join! I've been trying to dabble a little in the candles, and I'm using Joywax. I'm having a real difficult time with wicking. But of course aren't we all! I'm trying to do the square mason jars and the pint mason jars. NG says the best wick to use for with this wax is the zinc. So instead of buying the zinc from NG, I bought the low-smoke zincs from WSP. But I'm STILL having a hard time with the wicks. The flame is either puny and a poor meltpool, or a bigger wick gives me smoke and black jars. I do color, although I try to keep it kinda light so I won't have clogging problems. And I use 1 1/2 oz. per lb. of the Joywax. Any tips or suggestions?
