  1. Is it so hard to address someone by their user name? I don't see anyone using the name "Yvette" for their user name within this thread anywhere. My user name is Cabin Creek Candles. I wouldn't want you to address me by my real name just because we may have conversed a few times via pm and you think by doing so we are now friends. That's absurd!
  2. WOW I bet those are very time consuming, however they look very cluttered, too busy. KWIM? I've never seen a DC with so much stuff on it. Too much of something can be bad. JMO of course! The middle layer on the bottom DC appears to be uneven. With that being said, your friend will appreciate it.
  3. I think HCM :tiptoe: Hmmmmmm I wonder why the light goes out on some sites in the middle of the night? Heck on some sites that light never comes back on.
  4. I was wondering the same thing DC. Reminds me of a thread IKS started last week about one of her customers, only to go MIA when that customer came here and told her side.
  5. WOW airforcewife how long have you been making candles?
  6. Angela why do you plug JS every chance you get? Based on your reviews a newbie would think JS oils are awesome. Beckys oils aren't that great JMO. Not only once but several times different people have experienced floaties in their fo's from JS. What gives?
  7. Carol aren't you suppose to be working? At that new job with all the great benefits I may add. What happened, didn't go as well as you expected?
  8. Just curious Needle, Why do you color your HS blue? I have HS's and they are yellow.
  9. OMG:laugh2: :laugh2: Too funny. I would toss that mess in the garbage without a second thought. I wouldn't have to post the picture on a forum to know such a mess belongs in file 13. That is some nasty crap you have there girlie.
  10. Business is business is business. Free or not, mother or not, the sign wasn't made the way you ask for it to be made. It's not her place to determine what should go on your business sign. Soap In The City belongs to you not her, correct? I would gracefully give the sign back to her along with a piece of paper showing exactly what *you* want right down to the font choice/color. Of course I would offer to pay her. If she can't/won't do it your way, you need to take your business elsewhere. When it comes to your business, don't settle for anything less than what you want.
  11. Again, don't hate me because I don't HAVE to spend as much on testing as you used to have to when you had none of this at your disposal. That's just it, you don't want to spend any money at all. You want everyone to do it for you. You want everyone to test your wax, your wicks, even your containers. Talk about a ride on lazy street. You got it sistah. I think you are very lazy. You want everyone to hand this candle making adventure you're on to you on a silver platter. Oh yes, the internet is so new. LMAO. It wasn't around 6-7 years ago. How did I ever learn to make candles? Bottom line: Quit being lazy! Spend some money! Test! Wow, I'm starting to see that the countless emails that I've received indicating that there are quite a few frustrated old maids on here, is actually very true. Oh paleeeez. Countless emails? Yeah right! Can you show us just one of those "countless emails"? I bet your PM box is full too right?
  12. Japes the best thing for you do do is this: JUMP IN WITH BOTH FEET. Order different wax from several suppliers, test it to see what "YOU" like and what works best for "YOU". I mean come on, 20 people could tell you what they like best, what wax throws best for them and it's not going to make a difference. You've got to spend a little money here until you find your personal preference. Candle making isn't cheap. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that you have to spend tons of money but like I stated you are going to have to spend some money in order to figure out what you like best. It would have been nice if 6 1/2 years ago I just popped in on a message board wanting the members to tell me exactly which wax, wick and containers I should use. Comprehend this: Spend money until you find what you like and what works best for you. Example #1) Has anyone tried the J225 that I mentioned above? How does it compare to the J50 and J223? Instead of asking this question you should be ordering the J225, J50 and J223 to see for yourself how they compare. Example #2) Same thing. Order all of this to see what "YOU" like best. Your questions are spooner questions. I understand you are a newbie, but don't come here expecting everything to be handed to you on a silver platter. Spend some money, get your feet wet, test! Newbie here Needs help Hello all. WONDERFUL forum. I'm just now wanting to get into candle making and was looking to put together a short list of recommended resources. For example: 1-Best soy wax for purposes of scent throw and fragrance load. 2-Best parafin for purposes of scent throw and fragrance load. 3-Best supplier of fragrance oils, waxes, containers, wicks, etc. 4-What supplies such as burners, etc, you would recommend that I start with. 5-Tips and tricks for newbies. For example, what is the best temperature at which to pour the oil, for purposes of scent throw? Best wicks to use for slow, even burning, and maximum throw/burn pool. Etc, Etc, Etc.
  13. This is a msg board. Yes Japes you are correct. It is a message board not a gimme gimme gimme my name is Jimmy board. People have tried to help you out here, but your attitude leaves something to be desired. There's not one person here that is going to give you their exact formula. You've received some wonderful advice. Take it! If you don't like it do what most of us have done, RESEARCH! Buy different wax, try different suppliers, test, spend money until you come up with what works for you. One thing you need to learn straight up, When you ask questions on a message board, it becomes the business of everyone that posts here. Don't expect the answers to be sugar coated. At some point, you've got to be willing to help yourself.
  14. There is no way when using 100% soy wax you are going to get a candle with smooth tops. No way! Unless you add something to it. When you see a company state their candles are 100% soy wax with no additives yet their candles are smooth and frost free steer away from them because they are not 100% soy wax.
  15. Be careful making those torches you call candles Georgie boyAnd be extra careful making those QUICK pillars. Just one could cause someone to:bliss: Get a life???????
  16. And yours is what...... Candlewitch Candles? Oliviaclare Candles? Scrappy candles? Or is it just plain ol George I Don't Test Candles? Once again Georgie boy gets shot down in a blaze of glory. Why oh why are people being so mean to him? For shame for shame.
  17. Or better yet, go to the $$ Tree where everything is $1. Ol Georgie boy loves to go on message boards and post something totally assinine then try to make everyone else out to be the bad guy. He's so full of cow dung it's running out his ears.
  18. A garter, a sundress or a pair of black panties around a candle is one thing, but a diaper brings up an image of bodily fluids which is, in my opinion, crossing the line. And a pair of black panties and a garter doesn't? If done right, these two things alone brings up an image of more bodily fluids than one can imaging. Lighten up people, this was posted as a joke for crying out loud.
