  1. Ha..! Sounds like you owned " the VW owner's manual for Idiots at one time in your life " Love it.. About the stick wick. Why not? Yes you can get different sized sticks. I use them to " nose test fragrances from the bottle " and I have used one in a candle. But the wick tab was the glitch. I am more inclined to try Reed wick sticks. They come in differant sizes to and when you buy them by the thousand like pretabed wicks, the price is compareable. I like this idea and I'll get back with you on this. Business is really getting busy right now. But I'll find time to do this. Search google for yoder candle co. e-mail me if you want to compare notes on waxes and wicks. It'll take some time to look back through files to find where I got the sticks and reeds.
  2. Z 44-32-18 should work too. They are a bit slower to get a full wax pool, but 9% fragrance load you'll need all the help you can get to limit the smoke.
  3. Try Peaks FV and Cin. 2/3 to 1/3 blend. I call it Cinnilla, It is so good I want to spell it with an S..
  4. I've been watch this thread because I am trying the same. I have som GB 415 which is a sample I would like to use with The IGI wax. 4630 or 4627. This might be able to get me away from 6006 and or 4627 to cut cost and blending. So when you have the results. Please post or send an e-mail. Good luck.
  5. Well I would think a smaller wick is something you shoulf try. A deep wax pool is releaseing fragrance from .. as you said two inches deep. There for the candle may run out of fragrance before it is done burning. " The part the customer remembers the most" " smaller wick, more patiances" The jar it's self help in getting a full wax pool, because of the design with the smaller opening. the heat is transferred to the outside of the candle wax helping it to melt. wick placement is also a factor. ie. " edge distances " Did your wicks have any problem with falling over is that deep of wax pool?
  6. for what it's worth, I've been using 6006 for a couple of years now. Not 100% but as much as 50% in the blend. I have no complants about it other then the cost. And now looking back, I've tried to change the blend with newer waxes and soy etc. but the 6006 stays in the blend. I use a soft wax for cold sent throw and the 6006 to harden it up some plus keeping the hot sent throw. "can't lose that" at a 50% blend. 51-32-18-Z wick works fine for 2-1/2 to 3" wax pool. should you try 100%. try a larger wick, but one size up I would think would do it. It is a clean burning wax, which may be why I have not fased it out. Too much in my blend changes the color like all vegge waxes do. one reason I have not gotton away from Parifin waxes all togather. Modern parafin waxes are pretty clean burning now days. But when a customer ask if it is soy. I can reply that, "it is my blend of soy/veggie with enough parafin to keep the good color" That seems to make those with concern about parafin happy. And those that have had smoking soy candles in the past, I can tell them " that is why I haven't gone 100% soy. I have seen soy candles smoke baddly, wicks plug and fast burning due to larger wick size. I've tried other veggie preblends with additives added " as is IGI 6006" but have not liked them as wekk, so I keep paying the big bucks for it.. That's about All I know about it. I guess you get what you pay for ..
  7. Well because this golden wax is so different from my normal, here I am searching for information on the wicking task. May be the patchouli which I used to test scent throw of the 444 wax. but so far these are the wicks that have plugged up. @ a {70/30 blend } HTP 83 htp 93 htp 105 z-51-32-24 This was not the case with a 50/50 blend of IGI wax and golden. 51-32-24 worked as long as I did not trim the wick to 1/4 inch. so wicking up should fix that. I'm trying to get a 70/30 blend so I can keep the bright colors. Something else I've noticed. The candle burn time has dropped alot! So if the burn time drops too much by using XXX size wicks, and scent throw cold is only fair for a modern wax plus give up bright colors. What are we trying to do? I'm sure we'll get it to burn, but what $$ are saved by using it may be lost in sales. I'll keep testing it and keep checking this board as most of you know more then me and should I find the magic bullet. I'll post it. :highfive:
