Hi Guys!
Just joined and am making my first "what do I do now" post. I haven't been at this long (this time). I have been reading posts on here for a while to get ideas and tips on things to look out for or make sure of. I have fallen into the "make a ton of candles at one time" trap and they were all crap. I used only GB415 and different dye chip/FO combinations, and kept very crappy notes. After getting no scent throw and a small melt pool, I started looking at reasons my candles were a bust. I found helpful info on the web and on here and started keeping better track, got more FO, and kept a spreadsheet of what I had done and when I needed to test. This is what that looks like....
I don't know if you can read this but I wanted as much available as possible. I think I am taking all of the important things into consideration, but maybe not. Also, my candle station is at my basement bar, which is right next to walkout doors. The room stays, traditionally, a little cooler and I almost always have the walkout door open so there is likely a varying humidity level.
I am not looking for the golden key to candle making, because (at least from what I have read) that doesn't exist. I understand different things will work differently for each person. However, I am looking for ways to increase HT. I have tried wood wicks, ribbon wicks, eco wicks, and cheapo wicks. Wood is the best so far but not in every FO. I am primarily using EcoSoya Advanced Blend right now and the FO is from CandleScience. Any and all comments/questions/critiques welcome. I just want to learn. I do hope to one day have my own business, but that can't happen with the products I am making now.
I am ready....feed me with your knowledge! 👩🎓🧠
