  1. Thanks TT....I started with the zinc, then started to play with the other - woodwicks, ribbon, and eco. Not getting great results with any. Maybe I will need to look at the waxes and change that too. Thanks for the reply!
  2. Hi Guys! Just joined and am making my first "what do I do now" post. I haven't been at this long (this time). I have been reading posts on here for a while to get ideas and tips on things to look out for or make sure of. I have fallen into the "make a ton of candles at one time" trap and they were all crap. I used only GB415 and different dye chip/FO combinations, and kept very crappy notes. After getting no scent throw and a small melt pool, I started looking at reasons my candles were a bust. I found helpful info on the web and on here and started keeping better track, got more FO, and kept a spreadsheet of what I had done and when I needed to test. This is what that looks like.... I don't know if you can read this but I wanted as much available as possible. I think I am taking all of the important things into consideration, but maybe not. Also, my candle station is at my basement bar, which is right next to walkout doors. The room stays, traditionally, a little cooler and I almost always have the walkout door open so there is likely a varying humidity level. I am not looking for the golden key to candle making, because (at least from what I have read) that doesn't exist. I understand different things will work differently for each person. However, I am looking for ways to increase HT. I have tried wood wicks, ribbon wicks, eco wicks, and cheapo wicks. Wood is the best so far but not in every FO. I am primarily using EcoSoya Advanced Blend right now and the FO is from CandleScience. Any and all comments/questions/critiques welcome. I just want to learn. I do hope to one day have my own business, but that can't happen with the products I am making now. I am ready....feed me with your knowledge! 👩‍🎓🧠
  3. Thanks Trappeur and ScentedPleasurez! GoldieMN, thanks for the welcome. My husband went to Park High School! Small world! I am from St. Louis and we just moved back up here in Feb. Looking forward to the winter!
  4. We live in Farmington and my hubby has relatives in Cottage Grove, Bloomington, and Plymouth. You in MN too?
  5. Greetings all! My name is Ashley and I live in Minnesota. I am married and have 7 wonderful kids (all with 4 legs). My love is named Rupert and he was born as a special needs pup, had a feeding tube placed at 6 months old, and will be 5 in Dec. He is the love of my life - just ask my husband 😂. I work from home so making candles is perfect for me! My candle making journey began about 10 years ago with a starter paraffin kit from Peak. Everything I made from that kit was pure HEAVEN! However, life happened and candle making was lost....until about a month ago. I got back into things and bought a variety of soy wax, different wicks, FOs, and dye chips. I have made about 50 8 oz tins thus far (none that I am happy with). I AM DETERMINED to get the candle I want! I will go into detail on that later in another thread. I am excited to be here and have read a lot before joining today. Please Please Please take it easy on me because I am sure I am making a ton of mistakes. Happy to be here! 🕯️❤️
