  1. Amen! My son was required to do individual and group projects through technical high school and college. He is now a mechanical engineer and quite talented. He hated group projects.
  2. Wow! As a newbie yet to make a candle I never knew that there was so much involved in making candles. Lots to learn but now I know what a mushroom is. Great stuff!
  3. Thank you. Searching for my first ever candle project and this may be it.
  4. Probably only about 500 or so miles. Just a hop, skip and a jump.
  5. Thanks for the welcome and supplies advice. There are plenty of Dollar Stores around as well as a Michael's and Hobby Lobby. I've soaped for a number of years and some of that will no doubt do double duty. Thank you again.
  6. suggestive questions not required. What's your name? My name is Dennis. Someone already had it soooooo, I will be DoubleDee because someone always has DoubleD. How old are you? Recently celebrated the 32nd year of my 40th birthday. 40 was great and the rest have been wonderful Where do you live? Close to the sugar white sands of Northwest Florida beaches. How long have you been making candles/soap/whatever? Soap for about 8 years but as a hobby. I have given away a ton. I do not sell. How did you get started making candles/soap/whatever? Curiosity. Seeing something and appreciating the work is not enough for me. I love to experience it. This has led to hobbies in stained glass, RH weaving, continuous strand weaving, cycling, windsurfing, scrolling, kumihimo. knife making, glass blowing, soap making etc. I love to experience and gain a greater appreciation of the talent and effort people put into their creations. Are you married? Any kids? Very married. Three kids, 45, 23 and 25. If candle/Soap making isn't your primary job, what do you do? Retired. Anything else we should know?
  7. Greetings! Brand new to this forum and to making candles. I have never made a candle other than melted crayons in a can with a piece of string for a wick as a kid. I hope to soak up lots of knowledge from this forum as I delve into another hobby. Y'all were recommended by one of the friendly folks over at the SoapMakingForum. I can only stash so much soap but candles can be enjoyed all day every day. Lovely wife, mother of my children, keeper of the peace and counter of the coin loves candles and may join me in this endeavor. I have no supplies and will probably start off with buying a kit of some kind.
