  1. Do you have a tax id? There are a few nice wholesale sites with a nice variety. Mary
  2. Thank You for all the replies.. I'm really hoping I can make this wax work. The scent throw is the best I've ever found. I am planning to test 6006 if the 50 turns out bad. What are your thoughts on the 6006 if any of you are using this? Mary
  3. Fern, If you don't mind me asking, who do you use for a supplier for the j50? Mary
  4. Thanks Fern, I did try that and it did work but seems like so much work to do to every candle.. I never had to do this before like I said so I was wondering if something has changed with the wax itself. The company says no, but I wanted to hear what other users were saying! Mary
  5. Hello All, I haven't posted in months due to personal issues...It feels good to be back in the swing of things! My question is for those of you using J50 have you had any issues with air pockets in the wax? I have used this for a long time and have always purchased from Bittercreek North. My last batch of 55lbs seems so different from the previous ones. It used to make a smooth creamy beautiful candle. Now all I'm getting is what looks like air bubbles going all the way up the sides of the glass and it's making a really ugly candle. I would not even give these away. I'm wondering if I should try another supplier or if this problem is everywhere with this wax? Thanks, Mary
  6. Please..any help will be appreciated. I have always used 4794 for tarts and voties and loved them. Since I've switched to soy wax I wanted to keep all of my candles the same. I've been testing with ecosoya p/v blend from candles and supplies. It says the wax is for pillars and votives and the mp is 145*. I have tried cd's, eco's and just can't figure this out. They both seem to do ok in the beginning but as it gets half way down the holder the wick puts itself out! I'm really pulling my hair out if anyone can jump in and help with suggestions if you are using this wax for your tarts and votives. It really makes a beautiful votive and tart, holds color and scent great! Thanks, Mary
  7. Has anyone ever tried the Plumeria, Lilac or Lavender from BCN? I too am placing an order for sample scent and would like to give these a try. I'll be using ez soy. Thanks, Mary
  8. What I do is use popsicle sticks with holes drilled just big enough for the wick. I also have some with two holes for dbl wicking. I secure the wick to the bottom of the jar, slide the popsicle stick down the top of the wick and let it rest across the top of the jar. I fold the wick over the stick so it stays nice and taught make sure it is centered and then pour. I wait 24 hrs before putting any lids on. HTH, Mary
  9. hawaiinsun, I do appreciate you trying to help. I am terrible when it comes to figuring out measurements! If it's not 1oz or .5oz or something easy I get all confused! Mary
  10. I use dye chips and I use 1 gold and 1/2 brown for one lb of wax. Love the color it makes! If you are doing larger batches just multiply that recipe! Mary
  11. Hello, Does anyone have a recipe they are willing to share for the aroma beads? How much fragrance oil would I use if I wanted to scent the whole 1lb bag of beads Lavender? Mary
  12. eugenia, On the warm vanilla sugar..did you mean you didn't care for the scent itself or that it did not throw well for you?? Thanks, Mary
  13. Creosote? I'm sorry.. what is this exactly? Thanks, Mary
  14. Hi all! I was wondering if anyone has a technique for aging the tins? I recently purchased some to try using my ez soy but they are so shiny. I have seen them where they look antiqued and that would be more in keeping with my theme. Thanks for any help. Mary
  15. Hi There! You can try www.nashvillewraps.com or www.creativegiftpackaging.com or even sometimes www.uline.com Hope This Helps, Mary
  16. Sheri, I have not had any trouble (knock on wood!) with frosting so far... This is what I do.. Heat wax to 185* I add color as soon as the wax has melted to let it blend and bind. Add fragrance at 180* stir like crazy with a wire wisk. Let cool till around 105* Stir again and pour at 103* So far I have done 11 fragrances with this wax and 9 colors. I have had much success with Zinc wicks and 8oz Jelly Jars. I'm waiting for the UPS truck to come today (ALWAYS LIKE X-MAS!) I ordered a sample pack of ECO wicks and I'd like to give them a try for some larger jars. Mary
  17. Hello! My name is Mary and I have recently ventured into the world of making Soy candles. (3months)...I have been making candles for about a year and a half and absolutely love it!! I have always used Astor J-50 for containers and IGI 4794 for votives and tarts. Due to the growing popularity of Soy I decided to try my hands at it and so far so good! I'm using EZ Soy. It has an awesome hot and cold throw and burns nice and clean. I use color chips and haven't had a hard time getting deep colors either. Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself:) Mary
