  1. As some of you might know, Coconut 83 wax is sold out EVERYWHERE. It's my own fault, but I waited too long and now I'm in a bit of a situation because I'm almost completely out and I blend a small amount of it with soy wax. I'm debating what to do. My options are put my shop on vacation until it is back in stock or just make my candles without it. I don't think I use enough to significantly affect burn but it would definitely affect the finished look and I'd have to retest my products. What would you do?

  2. I need a black (or as close to black as possible) candle and I'm using 444. I've tried black dye drops and got grey. I also tried 1/2 of a black dye block in 20oz of wax and got grey. I don't want to use TOO much dye because I don't want to create burn problems, but I do want more of a black. Does anyone know the max amount of dye I can use? Anyone have any tips for getting a black soy candle?

  3. I've been looking for new fragrance oils and I have been amazed at the cost of shipping with companies who ship exclusively with UPS! I was going to place an order at Rustic Escentuals, but an order that was just over 1lb was going to cost $17 to ship. Then I tried to buy glitter through another store but the cost for shipping 1oz of glitter was over $20! I feel extremely limited by who ships USPS because there's no way I can pay upwards of $20 for a $3 item! Which suppliers do you use that has reasonable shipping prices?

Aroma haven has some candle glitters - https://rusticescentuals.com/shimmer-dust-glitter/

in my solid hair products I use a 0.15cc scoop per 3-4 ounces. I would try a pinch in a ta light and see how it goes.

Thanks! I actually attempted to order from them earlier tonight but their shipping was $18 for an order that was a little over a pound so I'm still searching!

That looks exactly like what my cosmetic mica looks like in molten hair conditioner. It swirls around until the base begins to set.

That's what I thought! I'm assuming it's safe to use in candles since I've seen so many of them around and even have one that I purchased! I guess I'll just have to play around with the amounts. Do you have any idea how much might be used based off your experience with mica?

I think mica will clog wicks, so I've never tried it.  I have used specialty glitters and I believe that is what is in the second video you posted.  I still have many bottles of different kinds that I've used in gel candles.  The product name on the information sheet I kept from years ago said Creative Beginnings and glitter styles were Diamond Dust, Diamond Bright, Diamond Pastel and Hologram.  They came in different size particles, the smaller particles can sometimes build up on the wick, but as you can see in that second video, the larger glitter moves away from it.  I can look at the bottles later to see if there is more information on the labels.

Thank you so much! That would be amazing! I'll definitely look up that company!

  6. I have been making soy candles for awhile now and often use glitter on top, but I have recently come across some candles that shimmer as you burn them. Does anyone know how this is done? Here is a video showing the effect I'm talking about, and here's another video. Does anyone know how this is achieved? I don't believe it's normal glitter and I'm leaning towards shimmery mica, although I've seen people say not to use it. If we were to use mica, how much might be used to make this happen? Thanks in advance!
