  1. I've used BCN's Frank/Myrrh with good results. I have a couple customers who are really addicted to the F/M candles. Very good scent throw (EZSoy). I don't sell a lot of these though, so I'm not making them anymore. HTH, Liz D.
  2. Thanks ChrisR! Very cool... Liz D.
  3. I'm not asking what anyone likes or dislikes. I know what I like. Sorry I didn't make that more clear. Thought it was sorta obvious. If anyone else can comment on the quality of these different styles that would be helpful. Thanks! Liz D.
  4. <<<<I get whichever ones I'm in the mood for. Is there a logical reason for the question? I guess I'm missing something in your question, since I don't know how it matters which ones I get. <<<< Well, yes there is a logical reason. In the photos, the plain ones look a bit nicer in quality. Perhaps it's just the photo. Also one is more expensive than the other. Liz D.
  5. Thanks! I will try that! I was putting the wax right into the cookie cutters and they were leaking underneath. I make my own cookie cutters, so they don't always sit flush. I was hoping to use my Ecosoya Pillar Blend, but it is far too brittle. I am going to get some of the KY wax mentioned, but before that I think I'll experiment with mixing some of the Ecosoya with some paraffin I have here. I'm thinking 50/50? Anyone do this? Liz D.
  6. Do you mean this one: KY Para/Soy Tart/Votive Blend (mp 132) Thanks, Liz D.
  7. I've made wax ornaments dipping wood shapes into wax with good success, but it is very time consuming. I'm experimenting with pouring them into cutters instead. I used some Ecosoya Pillar Blend and the wax is not hard enough. The ornaments crumble or break too easily. I'm thinking I probably have to use paraffin? Does anyone make these and have any tips or suggestions for me? Thanks! Liz D.
  8. Do you get the ones that are all different shapes, or the standard ones? Liz D.
  9. Walgreen's refills ink cartridges for about half the price. I've had good luck with them. They do it in an hour (like photos). HTH! Liz D.
  10. You don't have to use just one supplier. Most of BCN's oils do well in soy. If you go to their forum you will soon find out which ones are REALLY strong. I use probably 80% of BCN's oils, simply because I get my EZSoy from them and I try to use their oils as much as possible to save on shipping and for simplicity. I've found the following BCN FOs work well in EZsoy: Lemon Pucker (SUPER STRONG!) Creme Brulee (AWESOME!! SUPER STRONG!!) Spiced Cranberry (WOAH!!! Super strong and GREAT seller!!) Vanilla Velvet (Moderately strong, but the best vanilla out there IMO) Wildberry Zinger Tea (SUPER STRONG!) Cupid (Bubbles N Lights Line, my BEST SELLER, VERY STRONG) Twigs & Berries (run you out of the house strong!) Blueberry Muffins (super strong, not my fav oil though, didn't sell well) Country Berry Hotcakes (very strong, again not my fav) Sandalwood (VERY STRONG! Nice in cp soap as well) Mulled Cider (moderately strong) Mac Apple (WOAH... VERY STRONG) Pumpkin Pie CO (VERY STRONG!!!) Verbena Berry (AWESOME.. VERY STRONG) Grandma's Kitchen (best seller, VERY STRONG!) Lavender (good, herbal lavender, VERY strong!) Granny's Pie Crust (Bubbles N Lights, awesome scent, bugger to wick) Vanilla Grapefruit (Wick Your Wax, VERY STRONG but doesn't sell well for me) OK getting tired.. there's more but I am beat! HTH! Liz D.
  11. I add a bit of cyclo to my salts. This prevents them from getting mushy. Liz D.
  12. In my experience with customers, most do not care if it's all natural or not. Of course there is a small percentage who does ask for all natural items. I used to use more essential oils in my soaps, but soon realized the soaps that had fragrance oils in them were selling better. Again there are a couple exceptions (Lavender/Lime does great, as does Sweet Orange). I made some really awesome Rosemary Peppermint recently and it just isn't selling well. This probably is my area. People here go for the smell first and foremost, whether it's natural or not. Liz D.
  13. I use 1 oz FO pp with my soy wax. It will hold 1.5 oz FO pp, so I am not near the max. I suppose if you are using the max amt of FO that your wax will hold, then the mineral oil or crisco would cut the FO a bit. But if you are using just .5 oz crisco or mineral oil per pound, the amount of FO cut would be very minimal. IMO, from what I've learned, less FO doesn't always necessarily mean less throw. I used to use 1.5 oz FO pp. I switched to 1 oz pp and do not notice a difference on most of the scents, as long as I cure the candles. I had several testers tell me the same thing. There are a couple FOs that I feel require more, though. In general, I prefer less FO because there's less sooting and also I am not comfortable with that high of a load, just incase I would mismeasure or my scale would be off, God Forbid. Interesting subject, though! Would like to hear what others think as well. Liz D.
  14. It has no odor in the cold wax or during burning. Liz D.
