Candles:
Description: Nice, clean fragrance. Slightly floral. Did not throw well for me. May be good in bath/body.
wax used: 4630
fragrance load (%) 6.5%
average cure time: 1 week
Wax additives? None
container: 4 oz tin
wick: Zinc core
Cold throw: Average (6 out of 10)
Hot Throw: Poor to Average (5 out of 10)
I absolutely love this scent! I give it a 5/5 on scent throw, both cold and hot. Fast cure time in Soy. I used 10℅ FO load, it's a soft scent so 6℅ is just too light if you're wanting a good throw. I make soy wax melts using GW 464 80℅ and ParaSoy blend 20℅ plus 2 tsp of coconut oil. This has the best throw I've had in a long time!

Absolutely beautiful scent. Not too florally or perfumey, perfect blend. I love CC oils, they are extremely concentrated and are long lasting with good throw.
Product: Soy Wax Melts
Wax: 80℅ GW 416 20℅ Para Soy blend (for smooth, flawless tops)
FO℅ as recommended on bottle for soy.

The owner has a chronically sick child. For a while, before she hired some help to take over in her absence, if she has to be gone for a few days she shut down the ordering on the site. Could be that you were trying to place an order during one of these times she has the order system shut down.

Me too! Is there such a thing? lol
No myth here my friends, Fact. Oils I'm referring to are from NG and they are Tahitian Waterfall, Stormy Nights. Read the reviews and you'll see others say go easy as it is God awful strong. I should have hailed their advice but like I said, I always go 10℅ because I'm known in my area for the strongest most long lasting scents around so I always max scent. I've never dealt with oils this string where you have to go light or it's offensive to smell.
Another one from NG that is just way too strong is Moon Flowers, have to go easy on that one too. Going too high on FO ℅ takes away from it completely and is obtrusive to the senses. Going lighter picks out all of the notes in the oil. So yes, it is possible for an oil to be too strong.

I make soy wax tarts using 464. I always go 10℅ but I poured two new oils and they are just way too strong at 10℅, but I made full batches in them. Is there a way to melt them down, add more wax and remake them without losing throw or longevity?

Environment has alot to do with working with wax. If I do not heat up my work area prior to doing pours, my melts look horrid and crack. If your work area is cooler than you normally work in that very well could be the culprit.

I use 416 and blend it 20% with ProBlend 650 and add 3tsp coconut oil per pound and get absolutely perfect results. It is a very dry wax so you must compensate with something else. I go 10% on my FO.

I have just discovered them and am wondering if anyone has used their oils? Are they strong and concentrated? Looking for end results in reviews, thanks!

I've found that everything in my pouring environment affects how the wax cools and finishes. Most of the year I can pour at 135*F with no issues, in the colder months, I have to pour hotter (between 150-160*F) to achieve the same results. I also discovered that pouring in different areas affect things. I think due to how the airflow is. In my main pouring area I have it down to a science, but if I switch where I pour, I always have to go back to the drawing board on pour temp. My favorite tool is my heat gun though. It saves me from doing a second pour or being stuck with cracks or sinkholes when I do have issues. I highly recommend getting one if you don't have it already.
I have a great gun but don't like to use it because I always end up melting the clamshell and the tops aren't smooth and glossy anymore when I use it. I use the same area each time. I put a space heater in the area a couple hours prior to pouring area to get the air temp equal to the rest of the area around it this last pour and they look perfect! I've never had these issues before, hopefully with the weather warming back up the issues will go away. Thanks everyone for your feedback.

I have tried every which way past cohple of days. This is a fairly new batch of wax. It is GW416 and I got it from Lone Star. When I got it, it felt different than the last batch they sent me. And I know this sounds weird, but it even sounded different when I poured the flakes into my measuring cup, sounded drier. I compared the feel and the sound with the last batch and it is definitely different feel and sound. It is almost like the wax itself is just dried out. Does anyone ordef their wax from Lonestar? Or uses the 416? I am using the same mixer, my problend 650 and I increased the coconut oil and it belped eith the look of the toos, looked great, but still ended up cracking when cooled. This is just weird...

Here recently I have been having some major issues with my soy wax melts cracking after being poured and setting up. I have adjusted my coconut oil thinking maybe this is just a dry batch of soy, but still to no avail, have not fixed the issue. If it is colder than usual in the room that I am pouring in can this make them crack? So far it is only in my 6oz clamshells that they are cracking, the 8oz clams are fine, smooth tops, look great. Can the temp of the fo itself make this happen? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. I have not changed anything, same wax, same percentages, same fo's. I am totally baffled as to why this all of a sudden is happening.

I have never ordered from or tried Lonestar Candle oils before. Can someone give me some feedback please? Are they concentrated? And if so, compared to what other companies? I currently order from JS NS, NG and CC and I am pretty dead set on their oils due to concentration. Lonestar is having a heck of a sample sale right now on their new oils and I\m needing to know if their oils rock like the ones mentioned above. Thanks!

Has anyone seen a small single cavity clamshell? I can find the ones that are over 3" tall, but nothing small. I'd like to make smaller ones and bundle them
so people that haven't tried my melts can get 5 or 10 scents without spending too much. Something that holds 1 oz would be perfect and I really don't like those
souffle cups.
candlepackagingusa - Awesome company and has many different clams, including the 12 cavity clams.

If you happen to find yourself ordering the Jasmine scent from Candlewic, I'd highly suggest purchasing a 1 ounce bottle tester beforehand. By some miracle, Candlewic has somehow managed to create a scent to the exact specifications of a "Porto-potty." The scent does not smell like feces, but rather like whatever cleaner they use to mask the feces smell. I suppose the scent is alright for anyone who has never used a porto-potty, but if you have, then this fragrance will surely remind you of it. I swear the scent even leaves a urine aftertaste. It's a great scent for a gag gift candle however. Least to say, I did not use this scent in my candle production.
Does it make me bad that I laugh snorted at this one? Lol

Just read up on it. Well hmm.. Does this affect the wax melt makers as far as labeling? Do you know?
-
New FDA regulations in manufacturing? As far as the wax manufacture or the candlemaker?

Well anyone that has tried the lp416 agrees, it is a horrible wax to work with. If I would have any inclination it was not going to be as listed/advertised I would have gone elsewhere. It is the exact same item number as I originally ordered. Oomph. Guess I just won`t be ordering from them anymore for anything. So, now back onthe web to order my fmixer wax I guess. Lol. Thanks for your input. Wax is one of those things that change is not always good, wish they understood that. Have a great day!
-
They are claiming it is the only wax they carry and it is not. I ordrered the exact same wax I ordrered the first time when I ordered the gw and it even says on their website, gw416. I just did a small 3oz test run and sure enough, horrible tops. They are of no help nor do they intend to make it right.
-
Unreal... I ordered the gw416 from my original supplier I ordered from the first time I ordered the gw416 and they sdnt me the lp416, so I am now back at square one again with the wax issue. I ordered from the candlemakerstore. Anyone else have issues like this with them?? Now i have to order more mixer wax which is what I was trying to avoid in the first place.

I'm getting ready to start on my fall line. Any suggestions for good, fall scents? I also plan on doing a coffee line with oils from JS, anyone have any favorites there?

I have tried Cotton Candy - not as strong as they claim. BAHAMA Mama - great scent throw!
I am looking for real strong scents and already have some favorites from natures garden or flaming candle but I have never ordered from JS and they have a lot of unique things I would like to try. I was hoping someone could chime in and see if they've tried these scents before as I already googled a lot. I use parasoy candles and use max load possible. Here are the fragrances I wanted to try:
VANILLA SNOWFLAKE
BUTTERCREAM CRUNCH
BUTTERSCOTCH BRULEE
PEPPERMINT BARK
MARSHMALLOW PEPPERMINT
CHRISTMAS WISH
CHRISTMAS BLIZZARD
COTTON CANDY SUPER STRONG
BAHAMA MAMA
COCONUT CRAZY
COTTON CANDY FROSTED CAKE
COTTON CANDY FROSTING
FAIRY DUST
I'm pretty nervous ordering fragrances as I find coconuts and cake ones always smell like play dough. I had the candy cane vanilla FO from natures garden and no matter what type of wax I used it always smells like a a weird burnt smell when lit so I really want a good mint scent. Hoping someone can take the time to help me if they have used any of these! -

My new cases of 415 also from March of this year are off
I'm not sure what's going on here but I'm not liking it one bit - my burns have changed and system the same
I too am curious if the pour temp helped at all...
I also ordered a small bag of the 416 akosoy formerly golden brands now turned golden wax aak and the melts look like poop
the tops are horrid so this could also be a wax difference and not thinking you bought the wrong wax @ scents and warmers - it does sound like you have the right stuff just a lp in front of the name for the plant like kris stated
The pour temp only helped a little, (I dropped the pour temp down to 145-150) but did not smooth out the tops. And yes, the tops just look awful huh? Only way I could fix the issue was blending with another wax. The scent hold/throw is fine with the wax it's just the tops look terrible. Didn't take much on the blend, to do 4 clams I used only 2oz of a blender wax (have used KY and ProBlend) with 8oz of the lp416 and my coconut oil I always blend in and they turned out great. I'm still working on that scent list I told you I'd get, Moonshine... Been getting ready for our annual pig roast and have been swamped making sprays. Just wanted to let you know I haven't forgot about you. ?

Did the pour temp change help?
A few of us soy users have noticed a change in their year's soy waxes. My C3 feels very different. The flakes feel wet and oily. The hot throw is way off.
Bought a case of 415 manufactured in March (from memory) and it, too, feels wet and is in need of wick changes from prior year's lots.
Changing the pouring temp only helped a tad, not enough to make a good difference, so I've been blending it with my KY to get good tops And to not waste the 50lb box.I got.

Changing the pour temp only helped a little, not enough to make a by difference in the appearance. I too have noticed a difference.n the feel of the wax. When I first got.in the.lp416 I reached in the.box and grabbed a handful, was so different feeling than the gw416, like others have sad, had an oily feel to it. It was at that moment I realized this wax just wasn't gonna be good wax.

Made scents too strong
in Vegetable Wax & Beeswax Candle Making
Posted
I adjusted it to 5℅ on one and 6℅ on the other and now it's perfect. It was too strong at 10℅.
