  1. @kandlekrazy, do you find the HT much improved with the C3 and coco blend, as well?
  2. @StanfordP, this is so exciting to me. Looking for a way to improve my HT and I already use and love Premiers. Are you willing to share what your F.O. percentage is? If not, I understand. You've already given us lots of food for thought.
  3. @Timber, they don't allow warehouse pickups--they will only ship.
  4. @StanfordP, how much would you say the coconut oil improves the HT? And is it blendable with 464 or C-3? Interested.
  5. I'd love some information on how to set up the tray testing. How deep of a tray/cookie sheet, and how much wax to fill it?
  6. Thanks so much @TallTayl and @Trappeur! Always appreciate your advice. So in the jar I currently use (Flint 8 oz with 2.75 diameter), this is what I'm thinking for my C-3 no frag, no additive, test burns. I'd love your input, having never used C-3 before. Premier 760 or 765 Eco 12 HTP 104? CD 10? or CD 12?
  7. Do those of you who have used both 464 and C3 find that you need to wick up or down with C3? Waiting for our holiday rush to end so I can start testing.
  8. They said it was from certain fragrance oils. I just didn't get the sense that they had tested this wax in anything but their own line of candle products.
  9. So I was reading lots of threads from 10+ years ago on here about people using coconut oil to increase wax hardness and (purportedly) increased CT and HT. We currently use 464 and am beginning to flirt with C-3. Does anyone use Coconut Oil? I know coco wax is all the buzz right now, but I'm curious about the oil.
  10. I am feeling less excited about this wax after asking their "help desk" online person some questions. Seems like it's only tested with their wood wicks, they recommend a 9-10% fragrance load (yikes!) and haven't tested any other fo percentages. They said it does yellow but they've never tested UV inhibitor. Also, their recommended cure time is 24 hours. I asked if HT improves w/ a longer cure time, and they said they've never tested anything longer than 24 hours. Didn't get the sense I was speaking to anyone with real knowledge of chandling. . Also, they don't allow pick ups--only e-commerce with shipping.
  11. Following this. Not too far from IL and my family is there. Might be nice to play with and have some "upscale" candles for myself! I always end up with mostly burned tester remnants marked with masking tape! Excited to hear how wicking and HT work out for you with this wax.
  12. I just bought a few pounds of C-3 to test/play around with over the holidays. I have just about every size of premier wicks--thinking about trying a paper cored one, as well. Any suggestions?
  13. @TallTayl, keep us posted as to how the C1 works out for you.
  14. @birdcharm, no. It was my understanding that 464 already had some additives in it.
  15. Thanks TallTayl. I have not heard of C1, so now I'll have to research that one, as well. I am definitely curious about Palm, and a palm/soy blend might be fun (crazy what I refer to as "fun" these days.). I was also considering Clarus 3022 at one point, but the customer base over here is pretty set against paraffin. Also the price point on that wax is a lot higher. Although most of them are using paraffin in the "soy blend" candles and don't know it...a bone of contention for me.
  16. Long time 464 user here, but thinking about playing with C-3, especially with all of the 464 issues as of late. There's just no consistency from batch to batch, and we've probably gone through 1000 lbs of it since summer. Recently lost an account b/c they said the HT wasn't good. I have no way of knowing if that's true--our testers are all good, but perhaps that batch was not? Just re-thinking things--I want to keep our small business going and viable. Wondering if C-3 users are having the same issues with soy lately? What are the biggest differences b/t the two? Pouring temps, I'd assume? Does C-3 require Vybar or USA? Does it work with UV Resistor, too? I know we'd have to re-wick everything (we love premiers in 464, not sure if they'd work in C-3). I own a few candles I suspect are made with C-3 (the telltale bubbles) and the throw on those are quite good.
  17. Actually, pretty sure it's because they have ordered candles with a higher price point that they want to sell. . We are very competitive (maybe too much so?) with our prices. We are in 6 other stores and the feedback from those stores has been good, so I'm happy about that. But I am re-thinking our HT.
  18. So one of the shops that carries our candles said they love them, but when they light them in their (800 sq ft, high ceiling) shop, they can't smell them. The owner also said she can't smell them, even when she lights them at home. We test and test and test for throw in our 464--don't know how that is possible that she can't smell anything. They told us they will no longer stock them and are moving to a new soy candle vendor--one that fills the whole shop when lit. They also stocked the new Joanna Gaines line, too. Hard to compete with that. When I looked at their new (not the Joanna Gaines ones) candles, they were listed as "Soy Wax Blend," which I'm assuming means parasoy? I am super bummed. I don't understand it because we've been selling very well in that shop. Trying not to take it personally, but now I'm thinking maybe we should test a parasoy? I feel like people who want soy candles want it b/c they are afraid of paraffins, but isn't "Soy Wax Blend" misleading, if it may have paraffin in it? I'm not anti paraffin by any means, but the market I'm in really likes it if things are soy.
  19. I too, need a straight hazelnut. Trying to mix up a Nutella scented candle with no success!
  20. Also looking for an orange chocolate. Tried blending a few but nothing was great. Would love some suggestions!
  21. So our "sampler" jars are overflowing. We've probably got at least 50 that we need to melt down so we can re-use the jars. Any suggestions for doing so in a mass melting way? I'm a little afraid to do them all in the oven, because I did that once and had a terrible "waxident" where I dropped the slippery cookie sheet full of melted jars. HUGE mess!
  22. What type of additives? I specifically asked if they were pure soy and she said yes. I've tried Universal Soy additive and it's never increased my burn time (although I found out later that 464 already has an additive in it).
  23. Does anyone get 70-75 hour burns out of 9 oz of soy wax?
  24. I just ordered Fillmore's Carrot Cake, will let you know how it works.
