  1. I am trying to solve this mystery and hope some of the veteran candle makers can help. I have an acquaintance that makes soy candles. When she pours her wax, it looks like the consistency of a white milkshake. Im wondering how is this accomplished? Im assuming she would have to be pouring at a low temp and have to stir often, but even taking that into account, ive never seen wax look like that. Ive seen wax look slushy but never this thick, creamy consistency. Ive attached a photo. She claims she is using all soy with no additives. Does anyone here have any ideas on how this is done?
  2. Is there a way , just by looking at a wick, to tell if its a cd or htp wick? Also, what are the main differences in your experiences between the two? Im trying to learn as much as I can about these wicks. Also I have a bag of wicks that I know are either CD or HTP but I cant remember wich ones they are. I was hoping to be able to identify them by looking at them.
  3. Ive noticed fragrances smell a little richer or creamier in soy wax vs paraffin. Has anyone noticed the same thing?
  4. I was wondering, for those of you that make tarts, do find cinnamon to give an easy strong throw, or do you find it to throw pretty light?
  5. TallTayl, is this by chance at the The Enchanted Chalice ren faire? We have a son that works in SC and we were thinking of visiting. If so, I will definitely have to go now!
  6. I know this is a long shot, but I thought I would ask here to see if some of the old timers remember this fragrance oil. It was Candycane from Longwyck. After Longwyck went out of business, they sold their FO's to Rustic Essentials. Rustic Essentials has discontinued the Longwyck Candycane. Darn! That was my favorite candy cane. Does anyone else know of a supplier that carries this version of the FO? Thanks Kizzy
  7. Hi guys My mother in law has horrible arthrits and she dips her hands in this paraffin wax that she says help with her pain levels. She pays quite a bit for this wax and I was hoping to save her some money by making it for her myself. Can someone recommend a wax that an be used in this way?
  8. I too am looking for a good tart wax that does not have terrible frosting.
  9. Do any of the suppliers have the new Ecosoya waxes in yet? My supplier said end of March, but they still dont have anything.
  10. Hi Candybee, I was thinking of getting a carbouy myself. I always wondered though, if you keep your masterbatched lye in it, does the water eventually evaporate out of it at all? If it does, then you would end up measuring out more lye than your recipe actually calls for. Please let me know how it works out for you. Congrats on the purchase
