  1. I have used a similar soy wax and has worked well. If you are coloring your wax I have found some cloudy appearance in my soy blend tart wax, I don't like it. Throw was great, each cube I used lasted well over an hour, my melter is your generic, $15 melter you find at Walmart. Keep us posted on what works for you.
  2. Appreciate all of the concerns about the type of wax, we have some assurances in place with our vendor. And if worse comes to worse we will move to a coconut wax. That said I own a company that does fundraising directly with schools so we move our candles, 200-1000 at a time, in great quantity. Also a reason to use a wax that is not soy and able to be purchased in every drug store, big box store, etc. So back to the wax, anyone worked with this or coconut wax? I know they both have high melt points, probably the same issues.
  3. Apricot wax is actually being used by a lot of high end candle makers in the market. As for marketing it, it actually is quite easy considering it burns 80% cleaner then soy. We have a marketing program that allows us to deal directly with customers in a pretty unique way. I've seen some posts about 3 years old talking about Apricot wax but nothing lately. It is an amazing wax, just can't figure out how to pour it without it tunneling near the wick. I've poured at 200 degrees, 180, 160, 140, 130.... All created the same problem.
  4. Accu-blend is the maker, in West Covina, Ca
  5. Hi, I wanted to see if anyone has used Apricot wax for their candles and what kind of result they have had? Pros: Great adhesion, excellent hot/cold throw. Cons: 200 degree melt point, caving or sink holes when drying. I love this wax, I believe it has selling benefits like the coconut wax does. Would love to hear from some of you. Thanks in advance.
  6. Heating jars is a nice way to help the prevention of wet spots but 2 things have helped me. 1, better Soy has helped. Completely moved away from 464, had frosting and wet spots. Moved to the excel Soy, like night and day difference. 2, So many of us forget that the counters we leave the candles on are cold and that added to what we saw in the cooling down process. depending on what temp you pour at, for us with our soy it is 135 degrees, you can force the liquid to cool too quick and that makes for the pulling away. so now we use risers like those you use for cookies to allow single temp cooling all around the jar. Little to none on the wet spots. Hope that helps.
  7. "Business ethical values vary by company, and are defined largely by the behaviors and values that govern a business environment. In general, business ethical values are a set of guiding principles that encourage individuals in an organization to make decisions based on the company’s stated beliefs and attitudes toward business practices within its industry." Personal Moral Ethics vary from Business Personal Ethics for many companies. Personally, I couldn't separate out the 2 but maybe this woman did.
  8. When it comes to ethics and Disney we should understand that Disney for years has been subject to unethical practices. Like I said, ethics vary from one person to another. Is it ethical to put to death someone who murdered? There will always be 2 sides of the coin on that. As for what this woman did, did she use the Disney name? Yes. She put Disney Inspired on her original stickers. Is that a violation? Well, maybe. It didn't say Disney Candles. It said Disney Inspired. The argument can be made she should not have used the Disney name but where do we draw the line on this? And yes, she used the Disney Castle on the original sticker. Was that ethical? Well, I would say no. You are correct to say she profited from that. However, changes have been made. She changed what she needed to. And from this she has grown her business. I cant tell you if she did it purposefully. If she did it was still a smart business decision because none of us have 3 month backorder of candles. And to quote John Maxwell as well "Forgiveness allows you to be free from the nightmares of the past and to reclaim your dreams for the future."
  9. What was unethical? The very definition has different meaning to different people.
  10. She also changed the Disney whimsical title. She can get away with names like Soarin, Haunted, etc.... cant copyright names like that. It is implied so I give her props for the marketing. Disney could sue and probably still win since those heavily implied names refer to Disney related product but honestly, why?
  11. Her original candle label had a big problem with it.... it had the Disney castle in the middle of it. She has since changed it. If she is a former attorney she had to know that was a no-no. But she also knows that it is just a cease and desist as well as working directly with Disney attorneys at no charge to make changes that would be ok. That would be my guess. Good for her. wonder where she got these scents?
