  1. Beautiful, and I love the bling! What a fun way to dress them up. I'm sure the recipient is very pleased
  2. Yes, those are beautiful. Post the others when they're done. Great job!
  3. Yes, thanks so much Top, and Stella for your confirmation. I'll keep doin what I'm doin, but at the same time of course I'll have to try the IGI 2322 to compare.... I've got samples coming. And I've got my lye sitting here waiting for me to venture into soaps. Maybe I will, just for the learning experience.... It never ends.
  4. I just found out/heard that the container palm I'd been using is just plain stearic acid... The CP from Calwax. Could that be so? I knew I could also make pillars with it... I think I'm just stumped knowing now that I've been using something so simple, or what people would consider an additive. What do you think they add to other container palms to make it different, a "better" blend? Do you get what I'm asking? Would I be better off exploring, say IGI's palm container, or what CS calls Glass Glow, or just stick with what I've been doing? My people like it, and I get good throw with the right oils and wicks. Am I missing something? If I had a blank slate, would it be worth retesting everything? Would I find better burn properties with a more "complex" blend?
  5. Yes, you're right. They do have great waxes. And were nice enough to work with a little guy like me to get me started. I'm sure financially they were more interested in private label contracts... I understand little price hikes, but doubling? I don't want to do that. I value my customers too much, and wouldn't want to have to pass that big of an expense hike on to them. Anyway, It'll be nice to have my wax come to my door now... I also spoke with Pete at Swans, who recently opened in CA, and he was very helpful too. So I have some affordable options! Options are good.
  6. It's this company. I dealt with them over the phone or in person, not over the internet... http://www.calwax.com/
  7. I've been using the container palm from Calwax. I decided to try the IGI palm from Let it Shine. They have a warehouse in CA, and can ship to me cheaper than going to pick up from Calwax now.. Hopefully it compares and burns and throws the same. Not looking forward to the testing all over again. Anyone else use the IGI 2322? That is the same exact wax as CS glass glow, right?
  8. I knew it would go up, but that high? I used to get it for $1.05/lb. I pick up from a local supplier to save on shipping, but wow.... I just paid $125 dollars for a 55lb bag of container palm. I think I need to price around.. Sorry, that knocked me off my feet today. *faint* Any ideas?
  9. Hi, I'm looking at etsy, and see that their fees are .20 to post, and 3.5% for sales. If I use Paypal, does anyone know what the transaction fees or service fees are? I'm being lazy by asking y'all. Thanks!
  10. Did you tare the scale to cancel out the weight of the pot before you weighed your wax? Maybe the weight of the pour pot got factored in...
  11. Yeah! Very nice. I like what you did with them. I switched to those jars also. It's great, and they ship SO quickly! I'm testing the larger 15 oz and 24 oz one right now. Fun to wick... I'm getting close. Would you mind sharing where in so. CA you are from? I'm sure we're not far from each other.
  12. Oh, I've never smelled it while burning, only after extinguishing and sticking my nose to the jar... Maybe she just doesn't like that fragrance.
  13. You mean like a burnt wick smell..? Yes, I've had that with some fragrances. Using a wick dipper to extinguish the flame could remedy it perhaps....
  14. OHHHH! Perfect timing. I was trying to figure out who makes those trimmers. I have a trimmer like that and was wanting to get more.. I'm interested. There used to be someone who could add your business name to trimmers just like that. Between the scroll design. Does anyone know anything about this? I'm wondering if they're still in business... custom made wick trimmers...
  15. That's very sweet and beautiful! I admire your work.
  16. I'm with Stella, thinking it's not the wicks that are causing the mushrooming. I use a different wax and am delighted that the RRDs haven't had one bit of mushrooming. I'm thinking it might be your wax... Just a thought. I played with the naturewax for a while, and remember having issues with the mushrooms as well. That's probably not what you were wanting to hear, and I don't know how helpful it is without making a recommendation... Out of curiosity, I'm going to be comparing my RRDs with the CSN from Candlescience. Have you tried those yet? They're formulated for palm and natural waxes.
  17. Thanks everyone for the input! I've been happy with the RRDs, but why not mix it up a bit, huh! It'll satisfy my curiosity to compare. I've never ordered from CS before, and will give them a try. Thanks for checking on the quality issue. And I think I'll throw in some Lovespell with my order for Valentines Day...
  18. Yeah, tried that before I posted- typed in CSN and came up with no matches.. Anybody who has tried these?
  19. Anybody tried the CSN wicks from Candlescience? If so, I'd be curious to know how they perform compared to the RRD wicks with palm... The RRD are working for me, but I'm curious about these...
  20. I have a customer requesting a true orange blossom fragrance. Who has a good one?
  21. Has anyone tried SB's Gingerbread? I need to place an order, and was wondering if this one was worth adding...
  22. Does anyone have any experience with Calwax's Crystal Brite Container wax?How it throws, how much FO it really holds... compared to other container blends? It says it's especially good for container candles because of its low shrinkage. Just wondering about it. I'm using wax from S&P now, and like it. But just discovered Calwax's and I could pick it up locally... Wondering if it's worth all the testing to switch... Would love advice, input. Thanks!
  23. Those are very pretty! Love the colors!!
  24. If I recall (it's been a while), NG recommends zinc wicks for their Joy wax. Why don't you give those a try.
  25. Those look really great! Like the effect!
