What color do you use for this scent? I'm about to try it for the first time -

1. Cooking spray. I sprayed each tin and wiped it out with a paper towel. Not wild about this procedure or the residue (maybe I need to wipe out more carefully but I thought I had). 2. Pouring at about 110 degrees helped somewhat with the tops. Still some wrinkling and color issues, but they were better. 3. Tried mixing in 2 oz. of some Joy Wax I have with 14 oz. of the 416. Tops and color are great and they released from the mold quite easily. I have one of the straight 416's and one with the JW burning now to test throw. I cannot detect a difference. In both, I used 10% FO (Bayberry from BCN) and they are VERY strong.

I received my 25# of 416 yesterday and have made two batches of tarts. 1. In both batches, I had something very odd happen. Some of the tops were smooth and some were not - right next to one another, all factors the same. 2. I have to agree that the wax holds a lot of FO. I used 10%. 3. Even after putting them in the freezer, I had trouble getting some of them to release. <sigh> I suppose I need to use a mold release of some sort. Ended up with some actually breaking pieces off, not to mention my broken fingernails. I guess I'm spoiled by the mix I'd been using, which was somewhat of an accidental thing ;-). I had some waxes I needed to use up - some Astorlite Q and some KY Bluegrass - and was mixing them 50/50 then adding 1/2 oz. pp of beeswax. They always turned out beautifully. No frosting. No sticking - they fall out of the mold. They are a little softer and I didn't use as much FO (max 1.5 oz per pound) but they were not overly soft and could easily be wrapped in plastic wrap without making a mess. And I poured it hot - immediately after adding the colorant and FO. A quick top-off if they sunk a bit in the middle while cooling was all I had to do. I'm going to keep trying a couple more batches of this, but it's definitely proving to be more work than my blend... which has probably made me lazy! Now I have to go find the snow shovel. Yesterday it was 73 and tomorrow we're supposed to get 2-4" of snow. AAAHHH... Wisconsin!

I got some of this and I just don't care for it. I'd like to try mixing in something to make it more to my liking... any suggestions?

Do they sell only to wholesale accounts, or can a li'l old hobbyist buy from them? I would only want a case... if the testing batch I ordered from KY works out for me...

"tart forum" - LOL Reminds me of a job I had working on a computer help desk... the name of the computer system we supported was "BrewNet". Imagine having to answer the phone... "BrewNet Hotline; this is Nancy - how may I help you?" I heard, "Actually I prefer blondes" so many times it was ridiculous... But seriously... I only make candles once in a great while for myself or my kids. Tarts are my passion. I'd like a place to keep the tart threads together.

Anyone know of a place I can find a current list of suppliers? I looked at Candlescience, and would love to order it from them, but they don't seem to carry the 416...

I have some crystallizing pillar wax I've been wanting to use up and have been mixing it 50/50 with soy flake container blend and adding .5 oz. beeswax per pound. Works great for me. What is GB? And where can it be ordered from?

My favorite little "junk shop" - great source for the vintage/antique kitchen gadgets I collect - had a Presto pot yesterday for $3. Looked to be in perfect condition. Think I should have bought it? Just kiddin' - of course I did buy it - and it works perfectly.

That's the favorite here. Off-season, mine is called "Cabin in the Woods", and it does well.

Bruce - got the information that it was discontinued from Candle Cocoon when I attempted to order it yesterday (lyschel@candlecocoon.com). I believe she was as sad as I was that it wasn't carried anymore. I've tried the NG Blackberry Jam - it doesn't quite do it for me (spoiled as I am by the acres and acres of wild blackberries that I grew up with - and I have the scars to prove it, LOL). The sage addition doesn't do it for me either... If anyone runs across a good 'un, please keep me in mind!

I was using this pillar wax that comes in pastille form in a mixture I use for tarts and it was perfect for that. Need a replacement now - but it appears that Candlewic's replacement (Smooth Pillar Wax) is in block form. Anyone know if csp-1 is available elsewhere (under a different name perhaps)?

The soapmakers seem to be having all the fun! I'm jealous! Seriously... I really would love to hear from anyone who has tried a candle or even a tart with this FO. It sounds so intriguing!

It's definitely thick. And it is strong - I whipped up some t?rts tonight to try it. To my nose there is a little extra "zing" in the BCN version that is missing here - a touch of tartness. Now, that's only after just having finished pouring and probably has nothing to do with how they will be when they've cooled and cured - but OOB and OOP (I think I made that one up, but I mean "out of pot" ) that's what my poor nose detects. (But I got THIRTEEN SAMPLES from JS tonight and had to sniff 'em all -so it's amazing I can smell ANYTHING!!!)

I second the NG Fresh Linen. It will knock your socks off.

Candle Soylutions has one that is really superb... I can't keep enough of this one around - EVERYBODY wants this scent once they get a snootful.

Can't wait to hear how the burning goes... that was the "regular" cb135, yes? I have some here that I've not gotten into yet and you are inspiring me!
