  1. From the many sites I have visited and threads I have read, I started testing GG Palm Wax in the Libby Cube 14oz with CSN wicks. Thought the jar my be a good basis to start and it looked amazing after the pour. I have tried CSN 12, 14, 16 and 22 all singled wicked. All have similar results with test burn pattern. They all melt around the wick and straight down. Some have provided wider melt pools but none reach the edge of the glass before going down. The glass measures 3.5" in edge to edge. Has anyone used this jar and can you recommend a wick type/size or two to consider. The 22 has a huge flame was eliminated quickly after about an hour. The 16 looked promising but never expanded to the edge of the glass. The other two only gave about an inch to inch and half MP. I used 6% FO and minimal liquid dye. Any help would be greatly appreciate.
  2. When measuring a jar to start a wick test, should you measure the diameter of the lid only or the largest part of the jar. Thanks!
  3. Great feedback as always! Since I am early in the testing and perfecting phase, I have several that I knew were duds early because of wick sizing. I will defintely turn them into melts and sell. No need to have fire starters in eastern NC. Only have gas logs. Thanks again for all the feedback !
  4. We have started with Paypal. Works great for all transactions with lower fees. Works with card reader or manual. Has a great inventory feature as well.
  5. I have been testing quite a bit needless to say as my wife and I have started our new candle venture. Was wondering how you recycle your test candles? Do you reuse the wax with the fragrance to pour other test candles? I am assuming the only way to get the wax out is to put them in the oven? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated !
  6. I too did this the other night as well. Luckly not a huge spill but still makes you want to kick yourself.
  7. Thanks IMC. I read your thread regarding tempering. Very helpful. When you reheat, what temp do you pour and do you heat your jars? Many thanks!
  8. Would be interested in any feedback from any expereince adding Vybar to C-3 for color enhancing and scent throw. Thanks!
  9. Puma32, That's a great idea. I will have become a box hoarder now. Will certainly try this!
  10. Steve, I couldn't find the foam box details in the archives. If you could find it would be much appreciated!!
  11. I have used CB Advanced Soy, GW 464 and have ordered small quantities of 6006 and CB-125 to try. Getting lots of separation, frosting (not as much with Advanced) Mostly all soy. I have changed temps often. I start melt at 185 with dye and scents. 1.5 oz to lb and have poured from 160 down to 120. I preheat the jars in the oven. Leave them cooling on a wire rack in the kitchen where we pour. (Ambient 73-75 degress)
  12. I have been reading a ton of articles on this site and have learned quite a bit. Thank you all ! My wife and I starting pouring container candles a few months ago. We are still trying to remedy the fast cool down process. I have read where some use towels, warmers, boxes. What works best for you ? For those that use towels...are you wrapping each candle? How do you secure the towel? Warmers...what type works best? I have thought about a waming tray or putting the candles in an insulated large cooler. Any feedback would be much appreciated !! Thanks!
