  1. Ok, you got me. Peak? I did a search for them and I didn't find anything.
  2. I'm wanting to make make my own perfume. I know it can't be that hard to make some but here's my question, have any y'all had any luck duping your favorite store brand perfumes. I'm guessing it would be hard to the get them spot on but how close can you really get? How close have any of y'all got?
  3. Hello all I was wondering if any out there premix your oils in a bulk container. This seems like it would make my soaping days go much smoother. Thanks for reading.
  4. I've seen a soap maker, on YouTube, pick up her soap after cutting it, and stick it too much into her nose. All I could think was, "She's not planning on selling That bar". Sure enough she put it right back down in the mix with all the others. That does gross me out.
  5. I had read this myself a long time ago. Unfortunately we're going to have to come to grips that there are a lot of companies lying to us so they can sell their products to us and your children. I try to be as natural as I can, but I'm telling ya its damn hard these days. Whenever I go to the grocery store I almost never shop in the middle iles. There is nothing there but crap. Unless I'm at the health food store. I never thought I'd sound like a hippie but I refuse to eat anything that comes out of cardboard or plastic, you know what I mean, right?its just is not right for your body. Noodlehead
  6. A good soapmaker friend specializes in HP. She has a series of crock pots in which She heats her oils to 160, adds the lye solution, and cooks for only about 10 minutes before pouring off to a non-heated container for scenting, coloring and molding. As the crock empties, she adds the next set of oils. Repeat. She churns out 100 or so logs a day this way. SAP is always complete by the next day when the soap is fully cooled. No need for pheno tests.... Doing this would almost be like half HP/CP. Makes sense. I would imagine that you make sure and insulate the mold? I'm going to give it a try. Looks like The hubby is gonna have start building me some molds. I'm saving everything around here that looks anything like a mold and it's driving everyone crazy. Now their try to sneak behind me and throw stuff away.
  7. Just another thought but maybe when the oil goes through saponification it undergoes some process? That sound dumb or what? Oh well as I said it was, just a thought. Noodlehead
  8. Hello all, Ok so I've made maybe about four or five batches of soap. I think I've decided that I would like to mostly make HP. I'm still having trouble trying to figure out when it's done. I've watched lots of videos and have tried to keep an eye out for the different "stages" , however I have noticed that soap does not always play by they rules. I have done the zap test. I dunno. I'm just feeling really stupid over here. Kind of feel stupid for even having to post this. I mean jeez. How hard can this really be?
  9. Hm, I tried clicking on this video and it did nothing. Noodlehead
  10. Just now reading this cuz I'm new, but can't you put a persertive in the soap so that it will not spoil and get stinky? I know that the manufacturer recumends putting the oil in the freezer to extend the life. Noodlehead
  11. OK, good question. About how long would you say did it take you to build up your stock, and for goodness sake I can never make up my mind about what I want the soap to smell like much less look like. It's crazy doing this with ADD!! Noodle
  12. Vicky, How long have you been making soap for? I'm guessing youve been doing this for at least a good week or two? . I would love to be able to take a couple of classes from you. I hope that some day I'll be able to speake about soap and recipies from experience like you do. Hope you have a great day today. Noodle
  13. Hello all, I'm noodlehead. I'm just starting out out soaping and all of this is so exciting to me! Just reading all your post on how many molds y'all have almost makes me feel like I coule pee all over myself! . I know though it won't be long before I'll have just as many as some of y'all. In fact my hubby is a master carpenter an he can build me any mold I want. I've really enjoyed reading through the post. I have ADD and so its been tough getting "my sea legs" via learning soapcalc and trying to figure out recipies and everything. Plus if anyone here has ADD or a child w/ ADD its very difficult to stay focused on one thing for any length go time, especially when your not medicated. OK, sorry about the rant. Truly ment to stay on topic about molds. It won't happen again again. ☺ Noodlehead
