  1. On previous threads people have mentioned the difference in cyclo from different suppliers. I've only used BC's, but was wondering if MMS or WSP are different at all from theirs. The price difference is puzzling!! LOL Thanks to any response. Deronda
  2. Has anyone used any of the new diffuser bases from any supplier? Just curious if anyone had any luck with the bases compared to trying to make your own with DPG or perfumers alcohol. Especially curious about BC, WSP, and JS'l bases! Thanks for any replies. Deronda
  3. WSP's Mango Peach is awesome in soy! and on my top 10 list right now!
  4. sorry for the late reply!! I didn't add much, but I did email to ask how much distilled water would compromise the integrity of the base. They told me 4 cups to a gallon of base and add 2% germaben to be safe. Soooo, I'm still working on it, because I'd stink at trying to make anything from scratch right now! I'm good if I remember which way is home. LOl;) HTH
  5. are you using the base as is, or adding distilled water?? My testers and I thought that it was more like frosting, so I added a bit of water to it. Came out great. I haven't had a problem with an odor though. My favorite scent for it right now is Amber Romance or Love Spell. HTH
  6. www.thesage.com has a conversion calculator!! it's great. HTH
  7. I use ecosoya CBA, and I have alot of FO's from WSP that are wonderful. HTH
  8. I am going to do a show this weekend and am a little nervous. I love both their bases, but wondering if anyone has had any problems with them? I'm just worried since I've had the bases about 7 months, and they are still good to me, but am wondering if I'm pushing it since the shelf life is usually 1 year. Also, I am using the oil soluble colors from MMS, and I'm making the labels now...they have them with 2 different things. EX. CI 77499 (black Iron Oxide) & Castor oil. Do I use both or can I use just one??? I called but all tech support is gone!! I wanted to make the labels today. Have alot more to get ready. TIA Deronda
  9. Hi and welcome. I fairly new to this forum too. Lots of info to go through, and lots of knowledgable people. I use the same wax and don't use anything else to make tarts. I used to use the stearic, but I didn't see much of a difference to keep using it. I also do the clamshells, so its really easy to do. As for getting the exact amount of wax, try using the calculator on the left under general information. It helped me alot! I used to have the same problem. LOL Hope that helps! Deronda
  10. LOL Thank GOD, I'm not in that kinda heat anymore. Thanks for the input, I just wasn't sure why I wasn't having to wick up like most do.
  11. Have another question about these wicks. I know that most wick suggestions are based on paraffin use. But these wicks seem to be made just for natural waxes(palm, soy, etc.). So is the suggested wick sizes for jars geared more for natural or paraffin waxes?? I use Ecosoya cba and they seem to work fine at suggested sizes! Am I doing something wrong?? Just was curious since I know some wick the 11oz tureen jars with rrd 37 or 40's and these are way too hot for my applications. Maybe it just has to do something with the additives added to the wax too?? Thank for any response!! Deronda:cheesy2:
  12. Okay, I'm starting to think about making labels for my candles. My question is how do you determine what weight to put on the jar. Example, I have a apothecary jar 16oz stated on packing but when using calculator actual amount of wax is 14.94oz. Another 16oz keepsake jar is actually 11.61oz of wax. So, if it is suppose to be 16oz but I'm putting in a different amount of wax...which is the correct weight to put on the label? Hope I'm making sense. LOL I'm assuming that the manufacturers are putting 16oz if it is filled to the rim with fluid liquid. TIA for any input on this! Deronda
  13. LOL Geek, you always amaze me!! It makes complete since. I just made too more batches of candles with Downy Fresh and Ocean. Can't wait to see what the difference will be. Downy Fresh has pretty much singed my nostrils. It's amazing how even after reading and studying and pouring...I still don't have a complete grasp on making candles!! I think it'll take me 20 years before I get a perfect candle! Thanks alot guys, I knew you'd set me straight.
  14. Thanks Top, LOL I thought so too! Well, know I have to erase everything I thought again.
  15. Okay, I've been making candles for over a year and thought I had a grasp on the whole wax to fo ratios. Now, I started using the pryme colors because they are made for soy wax. Anyways, my question might seem silly but, I do 6% oz to 1lb of wax....with the pryme calculator it deducts the percentage of fo from the wax. In other words, if I want 6% fo I'm not going to weigh out 1lb of wax, it will be less the amount of fo I'm adding. So, if I go by the calculator, I haven't been adding enough fo to make it 6%?? I thought that if you weigh out 1lb of wax and you can add up to 10% FO and/or additives that it was added to the 1lb of wax. Am I making sense??LOL Any comments would be greatly appreciated, since I have no idea what I'm doing anymore! By the way, the color came out great!! Thanks, Deronda
  16. Thanks for the replies. I guess I just needed to hear that it was alright! I think it looks kinda cool. Just it had never done that before.
  17. I had the same problem too. Very frustrating. I finally "shrunk" down the actually size of the label so that it wouldn't go over the top or sides. Hope that made sense! LOL And I would hand feed them in one sheet at a time.
  18. Well, my tester are just the wax no color, just fo. And the mp turns a light brown/tan color. A Cucumber melon fo colored med green, after burn turned a odd tan/green color. And another tester I gave to a friend, colored a reddish color for spiced apple, she asked why it turned a different color?? I'm stumped.
  19. I'm frustrated!!! Loved the smell of the Mango Papaya OOB, but when I test burned it smelled like rubber glue burning. I only did 1oz per lb of ecosoya cb. Same with the S & L, I did 1 oz and it seems to be borderline chemical smell. Has anyone else had this problem and corrected it or do I have to go on the hunt again?
  20. I brought a sample to work and 2 people said it was watermelon too!!! I don't smell watermelon, I only smell salty air. LOL Goes to show ya, people have different sense of smell as well as taste!!
  21. Okay, I've been using Ecosoya cb for a year, and just recentlly when burning the candles, the wax pool changes to a completely different color?? What am I doing wrong? I'm going to start using uv to keep my colors true-longer. BUT, I am kinda stumped on the mp turning different color after it resolidifies. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated! Second, on the uv, what uv brand does most of you use with soy? Does it matter?? BCN's is more than Peaks, is there a difference between the two? Thanks in advance for the help. Deronda
  22. I don't know if you are just looking for candle warmers or combo warmers. But I've been pricing around too. Candle Warmers out of Utah are reasonably priced, as waxcessories. I have purchased from waxcessories and love the quality of their products. I also priced Velamour, but I think candle warmer has better looking stuff. HTH Deronda
