  1. Hi. I haven't posted here in some time. I was wondering how to make my candles burn a little slower. Mine seem to burn a bit too fast. I was wondering what I should or could do. Any tips? Liz
  2. i actually own a consignment store in pittsburgh, pa. when we sell items that come in we do a percentage. it's 40% 60%. (we get 60%) however, when it comes to handmade items, as in your candles, the percentage changes. it turns into 30% 70% in your favor. i don't know if you'd find many stores to sell your candles and receive the full 100%. there's a fee basically to have your items be in someone elses store. oh i want to add.. being that i make candles myself i'm not like other owners of consignment stores that don't take care of candles. when items are taken care of they'll sell.. if they look like crap *i* don't profit from it either.
  3. i just started using cargill c-3 soy wax and i'm not sure how much scent to use for 1lbs of wax. let me add that i'm new to making candles :smiley2: oh and any tips would be GREAT! Lizzie
  4. I just bought a ball mold for my candles. I knew it had a seam. How do you get rid of the seam without making it look like crap? Lizzie
  5. I have a few extra jars left over with wax in them and I was wondering what the proper why of getting the wax out? Also where do you find cheap jars? I go to Fairway Glass. Is there anywhere else cheaper? I've also heard with soy candles some of you only use them in jar candles, or am I wrong? Cause whenever I make a mold after a while after burning them they crack. thanks everyone Liz
  6. For a little while now I've been making soy candles and they haven't been giving off a good scent throw.. however when it's not lit it smells great! Strange twist I've been using I've been using cargil p-1 soy for pillar and cargil c-3 soy for container. I'm almost positive I'm using the right amount of scent. I just don't understand why my candles smell so good when cold but doesn't when it's being burned.. any idea why? maybe the wick? I don't know much about wicks, so if you think it's the wick.. or maybe even the wax.. any ideas? heck, I finally got the cracking under control.. now it's the scent Thanks all. Lizzie
  7. I've been making candles for several months and I've been switching up from different waxs and wicks, just trying to find out what I like the most. So I know most of you use different waxes and wicks, but what's your favorite and why? Lizzie
  8. Ok, I have a question. I know a lot of you probably use many different soys and different wicks and all that good stuff. I recently started making soy candles. I've been switching up with different soys to see the difference. I was curious what soys and wicks you use that you like and that give a good scent. Lizzie
  9. I am so glad that vybar was brought up because I also have been using it in my soy candles and had NO idea it shouldn't be put in soy. So thank you thank you thank you!! Lizzie
  10. Hi. I just started making soy candles, jars and molds. I made a jar candle without any color in it. A few days later I decided to burn it. The puddle of wax where the wick was, was turning red. And it's only red right in the puddle. Does anyone know why? Liz
  11. Before I start using soy wax I was wondering what are some pro's and con's of the wax. I've heard sometimes it doesn't have a good scent throw but what else? Take care Lizzie Happy Holidays All
