  1. I agree I would not use food coloring either. I use either bath soap colorant or natural powders like beet powder, turmeric etc.
  2. I was hoping someone here has used Castile Coap in bath bombs. If so how were the results? Also, I have had a couple of botched batches what recommendations do you have to reuse them? Some have scents some don't
  3. Any EO can be used in a bath bomb. Use fewer drops for stronger scents like peppermint and use more for lighter scents like Lemon or grapefruit. Synergy Blends are good for Aroma Bombs. Just keep in mind if you are giving them as gifts don't use Chamomile for those who have ragweed allergies. It won't be very beneficial to them.
  4. I have been researching herb pillows and I would like to make some of my own, but I am only finding Lavender options online. Can you make them with other herbs? I have chronic Osteo Arthritis throughout my body, plus my feet swell terribly from Tendonitis. I have tried many other herbal remedies which do help, but Ice is too hard, so I thought using a cold herb pillow might do the trick. Any suggestions on which herbs to battle inflammation for the pillow?
  5. I got tired of looking around the web for Scented Plush Animals/Friends that didn't cost a small fortune or didn't look like something from the 1800's, so I have decided to create my own, with the help of Teddy Bear Mountain. I am making them available Scented or non Scented. Scented with Aroma Beads of various FO or Lavender Buds. The Attached picture isn't the greatest but I wanted to share.
  6. Thanks for the replies, I will have to try some other burner options.
  7. Fogive me if this topic has been discussed already. I tried searching for past posts on it but didn't see what I was looking for. There are so many different types of Burners, Warmers, etc on the markets today. Does it matter what you use to heat your tarts in? I still use the older style hot plate with a ceramic or glass bowl to melt the tarts in as well as burn my container candles on. I have posted before that I have a vanilla in a 4 oz pyrex type bowl that I have over 40 hrs of melt time. It still smells fabulous and I still have many more hours of melting before it's done. How I managed to make this I don't know. I have not been able to do another one since. Anyway, I would love to hear back from you on this question. In case I have any customers ask, I want to be educated on the topic. I have googled the topic and as with any product every company has it's bragging rights, so I thought I would ask here and get real feedback from real users. Penny
  8. I have read some of the post here and the only response I didn't see was to be sure the FO you are using is suitable for the aroma beads. Not all FO's can be used with aroma beads. I have found a vanilla FO not suitable. I saw it wasn't abosrbing properly, so I added more beads. Still the beads weren't drying, but as an experiment I made them into air fresheners anyway. The results were interesting. They ended up smelling nice, but they took on a mosiac look or tiled appearance. Looked like they had white grout between different shapes of tile. I use them at home. I hang them in my screened windows in the kitchen and they smell awesome while doing dishes.
  9. Is there a location where we can up load images of our Air Fresheners/Sachets that we've made? Like the Candle Gallery Is there any other Galleries?
  10. When you make your air fresheners do you do different colors for each FO? I do different shapes for each FO but the same color. EG: If I'm using Cranberry Relish-red or berry colored. Balsam- Green. Ocean Breeze-Light Blue. Purple-Purple Hooters. I make 7-8 shapes per color.
  11. Are you emailing ask Chandler? If not try that, I always got an answer when I asked. Be sure to check your spam email, sometimes the replies land there.
  12. Well, that was quick. I found a youtube video from CBV-difference between Gelato and SSS. Are you ready for this--Nothing different wax wise-it's the containers they are put in. That's it!!!! Different scoops are sold with each of them. The SSS gives you a deeper scoop because of the type of scoop it is-a transfer type, the Gelato is a spoon scoop. So for us NEWBIES--here's a good example of how you can turn one product into another just by changing the container---Simple Marketing Concept!!!!! Now I did notice her scoopable wax is different from what the review was I read. The YT video showed a harder wax, the review was a non melted wax that was pulverized/purchased a tiny pellets, that had Dye and FO added to it. That is the type of scoopable I have, which can be quite messy. Back to the scoopable post that Justajesuschick posted to see how others are making scoopable wax.
  13. I have made scoopable wax, for me it was the same issue. Once it was melted there was little to no scent. That to me sounds like a FO issue. There must be a difference between the two of them. I read a review on a blog where the person thought the scoopable was quite messy but enjoyed the gelato. Didn't mention anything about the texture of the gelato, so it leads me to believe there must be a difference. I just can't find anything else on it. I don't know if CBV would give me the "scoop" on it or not. My curiousity also led me to wonder if it's just the scents being used to call it Gelato, but on CBV's website you can select any scent that is offered. I ruled that out. I will keep researching it and let you all know what I find.
  14. Moonshine, the NG wax I was melting at 195 adding the FO and pouring at 180--Recommended by NG. Didnt work so NG told me increase my FO from 6% to 8-10%. Still no good. CS-Melting at 185 and they just said to add FO stir for 2 min and pour at desired temp. Well for me after stirring for 2 min it would drop to about 170 and I would pour at that temp. Did the same with FO's when I didn't get any scent. Still No luck. I was getting alot of frosting. It looked horrible. See: Penny
  15. Go to Candles by Victoria, and even Bath and Body works is offering Gelato, and Expresso Bar Candles. When you google it you have to google Gelato Wax Melts.
  16. I have been seeing online companies offer Gelato Melts, how are these made, any suggestions?
  17. Just a suggestion but when I made soap I added a tiny bit of natural brown coloring to white soap to make it ivory.
  18. I came across a suggestion of using Chipboard for airfresheners. Chipboard is the material used for scrap booking. Has anyone tried this suggestion?
  19. moonshine thank you for the link, at least now I know which type to consider. How do you pour the wax out? Picking it up and pouring? I'm not sure if that will be a safe route for me with my hand tremors. It's an option I will look into. Now back to the temps for the wax-I have been told by CS and NG that temps can vary due to location but that they advise to use the temps they gave me. Now with that said--if the temps they gave me are not working what should I do? I've tried adjusting by lowering temps a few degrees-no luck, I also tried increasing a few degrees-no luck. I know different waxes require different temps, I can't tell you how much FO's I have wasted doing tests and FO's aren't cheap, neither is wax. Penny
  20. Hi do any of you dye your beads a head of time and add fragrance as you go along? I have been wanting to do this but I wasn't sure if I should or not. I have plenty of room in my basement where it's cool to store them, plus I have some nice glass jars to put them in. Also, any other Air Freshener Ideas? I currently do Aroma Bead Ornaments and Sachets. I've dabbled with foam cuts and the scent doesn't last as long on them. I haven't tried the board type ones yet. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Blessings Penny
  21. I tried to edit my previous post but it wouldn't let me. Can you suggest what model number Presto Pot to use. I have looked at Presto Pots in my local Walmart and they several different versions. I am not sure what to use. Also, I don't melt large amounts of wax at a time because I only have a few molds and my largest mold holds 8 oz. But I use the formula based on the company I get my wax from for the FO's. All the FO's I use have the same formula. I rarely do a 1 lb of wax at a time. If I am doing containers then I do, but I don't do that many containers. Any suggestions for methods of melting smaller amounts of wax other then the double boiler method? Also, will container wax prohibit or make it hard to remove from molds? I have used palm container wax in candy molds, it wasn't bad removing them as long as I put them in the freezer for a few minutes. Also, the temps are getting warmer here in NY now, how do you all sell your candle products in the summer? I want to make some citronella ones and target the local camp sites, however, I'm not sure how they will hold up in the heat. Suggestions on wax that will hold up in heat and give a good scent throw. Since that seems to be my biggest issues. One thing I meant to tell you all, is when I pour the melted wax I put the wax in paper cups to help me control my pours because I have a tremor in my hands which effects my ability to use my hands normally. Could that be an issue? I don't have any problems with how the molds look, its just ST.
  22. I am finally able to use my laptop and boy did I FUBAR the topic. I was using my smart phone, and I don't they are as smart as they say they are. They seem to mess up words alot, constantly proof reading to fix them, but yesterday I did not proof read. My apologies for the typo's. I want to Thank you all for your responses!! Chandlerwicks I am going to contact you with some questions I have.
  23. To answer real quick a couple of you, I use a double boiler method using a pour pot. Yes I use 4 different people as testers, since I have chronic sinusitis and cant smell much. Penny
  24. Hi I have had excellent results from using beads from both NG and S G. I use the 50% formula. I sent my neice a sachet of a combination of Jamaica me crazy and monkey farts in Feb and my sister just called today and said it still smells awesome. Beads from SG are cheaper.
  25. I am having hot throw scent issues with every wax I try. I have tried various melt temps, various pour temps etc. I do specialty wax melts from various molds. I had success with my chocolate covered strawberries but since then everything else has had great cold scent but poor hot scent. I was using NG pillar of bliss, used all there suggestions-- no luck. I switched to CS eco soya pb and have been totally disappointed. Frosting, terrible scent throws both cold and hot. I tried blending with paraffin at different percentages and still no Good Results. I have spent so much money already and I love creating the candle melts but I cant get scent throws right. Any suggestions anyone willing to email wirh me for more help? I have tried asking local candle makers and you would of thought I asked gor their first born child. They were rude and quite disrespectful. I need to do this for many reasons and I dont want to give up but if I dont start having any success I will have to. So anyone willing to help please PM me. Blessings Penny
