  1. I use Southern Vanilla from Ky in my soy wax and it is totally awesome. Vanilla and soy and be a tough combination but Vicki's got this one all figured out. Bobbie
  2. I use these colors. Oh my goodness, if you are looking for a black candle or dark red, these dyes are the way to go. The colors are so vivid and true. I didn't have to wick up and the scent was wonderful. Hopefully, Daphne will catch up soon because this is one fabulous product. I wish when I had ordered that I had ordered a much large size than just the 2 ounce sizes. Bobbie
  3. Gorgeous soap! I absolutely love the swirling you did!
  4. I ordered the Red, Blackm and some other Pryme Bold colors. I have used both. I got a beautiful black on the Midsummer Night I poured and an absolutely awesome red on the Apples & Berries. I didn't get any frosting on either of the colors and I poured mine over a month ago. I'm in love with Daphne's Pryme colors. I use KY Soy 125. I think you will b every pleased with these Pryme colors. Bobbie
  5. I got my beveler from www.sweetprairiesoap.com. I also bought several soap mold and have been very pleased with her products.
  6. That's the terminolgy I use. If the soap is made correctly the sodium hydroxide or lye should be totally expended when the soap cures in the 2 - 3 weeks.
  7. I haven't used Peaks, but I have used what used to be Scents for Soy. I had no problems and the scent held up very well while it was curing. Bobbie
  8. Wow! Brenda, these are awesome!!!
  9. I use the clear container. I had purchased the metal one and most people were not interested in this because they use these for accents. The clear sell well. I used to buy a 1,000 tealight containers for $55 from NG, but I think they must have stopped carrying the clear cups. I couldn't find these on their web site the other night. It was a great price.

  11. I just poured my first batch of CP soap yesterday also!. I can so relate to the fears. I have had all my oils and everything else for months. For some reason I was just so scared to jump into actually doing it. Well I will know about 3PM Eastern as that is when I uncover it. But, I know one problem already. I did line the wooden mold with freezer paper, but when I placed the wooden lid on the soap, I never thought to cover it with the freezer paper first! Darn, Darn, Darn!
  12. Okay this is all making sense now. I never got the Excel Spreadsheet showing the loads. Too funny! For the life of me, I couldn't figure out how I was supposed to even guess at how much color to start with.
  13. I've got mine from both Cajun and Ky Candle Supplies. Both were the wick pins that cover the entire bottom.
  14. Donna, I use 1.5 ounces of fo per pound. As far as color, I just eyeball it. I guess what I don't understand is how does one know he/she wants 1% color?
  15. All: I purchased these dyes and hate to sound so stupid. I can't figure out what Daphne is trying to tell me in that link for the calculator! If I have 5 pounds of wax and use 9% F0 and want a dark color, how much color should I use? Bobbie
  16. Somebody recommended ICS to me for a true Moonlight Path. It was awesome dupe! On another post someone was looking for a Citrus and Sage. I had a sample of ICS's and poured it and it was fantastic also. Since I was in the pouring my samples mood - I poured her Buttercream Frosting. Wow! I wish I had poured this and tried it before I had purchased the other 3 from other companies. I used to do cake decorating and I can tell you ICS' Buttercream Frosting makes you want to lick the wax!
  17. KY's is the one I use. I have tried several and I like hers the best!
  18. Cajun's is the truest BP I have ever used! I had used theirs and loved it. But I bought many samples trying to find one that was located closer to Ohio. The others were okay but after using Cajun's there was just something about theirs that was so true. It was worth the shipping charge. Bobbie
  19. I'm just getting into a naural pillar wax. My mold is about 8.5 inches high. Where do I wicks for a mold this tall? The onces I have now are the standard HTTP, RRD and CD wicks? Thanks Bobbie
  20. Laura, I think the RRD 34 will work very well depending on how heavy the oil is and your color. You may have to go to a 37 if the oil is a heavier oil or you do a deep color. Bobbie
  21. I've use both pure soy and a soy blend from different companies. The soy/vegetable blend from one company can contain a differnet veggie component than another. I prefer the soy blend to the pure soy. I've tried adding the crisco and I don't recommend that. With the soy blend you don't have to. I've used beeswax as an additive for a beautiful top but it just wasnt' worth the second pour. If you pour the wax cool enough, the tops are beautiful without the beeswax.
  22. BCN scents that I use and like a lot Lemon Pucker - Awesome scent throw Grandma's Kitchen Lavender - A very true lavender Lily and Lime Leaf - Wow, they sent this to me as a free sample and one whif and I turned around and bought a 16 ounze bottle.
  23. Holly, I won't make candles in the evening in the winter. Not only do the candles seem more prone to frost but also to wet spots. What temperature did you add the FO. I can tell you the worst frost I ever had was when I added the FO at 125 degrees. I had got busy and before I knew it the wax was down to 125. Since I switched to KYSOY125 I've not frosted one time and no wet spots. I never heat my jars. I do make sure that the jars have been in my house for 24 hours. I usually have to bring these in from the garage which is pretty cold. Bobbie
  24. Beth, I used to use HTTP wicks until I changed to the CD wick. The standard for the 8 oz. JJ was 105 but if I had used a lot of color or a heavier oil had to wick up to a 105. One burn isn't enough. I've had candles that on the first burn the candle burned perfect but on the second or third burn it drowned out. One of the reason's I left the HTTP wick is that the size of the wick varied too much from order to order. I tried the RRD wick and hated that wick. Mushroom, mushroom, mushroom. I went to the CD wick and I will never change. I got my wicks from BCN. Bobbie
