  1. Wow, they look delicious. Congrutulations on your first pics, hope to see more. I just posted my first last week.
  2. I have to agree with everyone else, those purple's are really beautiful...Great Job!!
  3. Thank you all for your kind comments, it's very encouraging. I know I have a long way to go before I get as good as all of yours, but I have nothing but time...lol. This weekend I'll wick them and see how they burn. flutterbye--I used my husband's yogurt containers, it's the first time I ever used something else besides my tried and true metal votive molds. Candybee--I just took a look at you post and both your pictures and candles are breathtaking. Can't wait to see more.
  4. Well I've finally gathered enough nerve to post my first pics. These are my first chunkies and they're scented with Mimosa & Mandarin. For the chunks I used the last of my 4794 and overpoured with some 4625. I already know they're not that great but would welcome any comments. Thanks for looking. That is if I can get them on here..lol. ~~JG
  5. Hi and welcome to the boards, sorry I'm not able to offer any help for your soy needs, but I can tell you that this candle making thing is very addictive and everyone here is super helpful, just turn yourself into a sponge and soak up all this free knowledge. Also the search button is your friend, a lot of information can be found just by doing a search. Hope this helps. ~~JG
  6. I feel for you...and pray it's not a big bottle.
  7. OMG, me too. I couldn't even test burn my votives because it made me so so sick. I finally had to throw them out because my house was saturated with that smell.
  8. OOh I want a mouse pad too.... I used to order my soap making supplies from them before I got hooked on candles, never once had a problem and always enjoyed their little freebies.
  9. Thanks for the description, I just might have to try this one for myself.
  10. DT you sound like me...there's so much candle stuff out there that it can become very overwhelming when you're just starting. I'm going to be moving on from votives to containers very soon and I've been doing a lot of research on this board and the archived one as well, then I cut and paste the info onto a Word document then add that to my "candle making" binder. One can never have too many notes. Good luck and have fun.
  11. Totally agree Andrea, I wrap mine up too and lean it slanted against my back steps then whack it with a hammer a few times.
  12. Wow those are great layers!! Just wondering if you could describe the Banana Blast scent it sounds really yummy?
  13. Anita is right. I am pretty new to this and was having the same problem untill the good folks here pointed me in the right direction. I've sinced changed to a much tighter fitting container I get from walmart and have not had that problem since.
  14. I use and love 4794 from Candle Science in NC.
  15. I've only ordered FO's from Candle Science and Peaks so I guess this is where experience pays off because I assumed that the location would offset the actual price--guess I was wrong.:embarasse Oh well, thanks again for your input, as always you've been a great help.
  16. Great tip Sab, I've been using Wilton's lollipop sticks, from my old cake decorating days, but they sure don't sell that many for $2.99. I'll have to check out our Asian market this weekend.
  17. Wow, you two sure are thorough, I never even noticed(duh) I just shot them an e-mail asking for more info about their company and a free sample, although I doubt I'll get it, but it never hurts to ask. But thank you for "trying" to check it out for me anyway. ~~JG
  18. Hi Carol, it's www.ufragrance.com Thanks
  19. Anyone ever try fragrances from Universal Fragrances? I just discovered they're located very close to where I live. It would be great if they sold quality FO's. TIA:wink2:
  20. Thank you both for the suggestions, looks like I'll be placing another order for those 24's and 27's.
  21. I ordered IGI's 4625 pillar blend to make free standing votive and to venture out into the pillar world, but I'm not sure what wicks to use. I ordered a votive sample pack from Candle Science but now I'm starting to second guess my choice. Any suggestions of wicks that work well with this wax? I did a search but could not come up with much. Thanks in advance. ~~JG
  22. Yes it is a pain waiting on the double boiler and I've been so tempted to do it, especially with my repours, but I know as sure as my name that I'll get distracted and forget the darn thing is on the burner.
  23. I love their Green Tea, Dreamscicle and Gardenia
  24. I saw an episode of "Embellish This" on DIY where the host melted wax in a pot directly on the burner. She made candle making seem so simple and effortless. Glad I came here before I started making them like her.
