  1. I use www.wahmshoppes.com as well, and so far I've been pleased with everything, including customer service. I paid someone to set up my site and I'm pleased with it. It's easy to add products to, and change things, etc. hth.. Rebecca
  2. I have that right here...I love it. Let's see...it's slightly sweet, a tad touch musky. I believe the description is sweet, innocent, yet very sexy. I'm thinking something with Innocence in it? Or Young Love? I dunno. I do love the scent. Rebecca
  3. I just received this as a sample in my order...and YUM! It's sweet, slightly spicy and almost fruity...just plain delicious.
  4. I found a site with free downloadable handwritten fonts...but for the life of me I don't know how to download them so that I can use them in my printing program. (Picture It Publishing). I have an idea for my labels and really want a different font. Help. Could someone help a poor computer dummy? thanks, Rebeccca
  5. thank you all! Ah, more mixing and brewing, my kitchen's never had so much use!
  6. I'm off to research this more, as I'd love to add perfumes to my website (actually have been asked about this just lately) and, my body sprays just aren't cutting it for me. What's the general recipe (if such a monster)? *gone researching more*....
  7. oh, now you all are like the hustlers standing slightly in the shadows "psst, I've got some nice Cannoli di Albicocca over here"...and "hey, you've just got to try this Fata Morgana,"...and I'm the one trying desperately to walk on by chanting in my head "no more fo's....no more fo's...." ah, heck who am I kidding. Gimme my fo's!!!
  8. thank you. I'm not planning on using lecithin, I think that's just what was used in the recipe. I was just interested in seeing if anyone had ever used such a "simple" recipe, just water, oil, emulsifier and preservative. I'm off to research emulsifiers and preservatives more. Thanks for the link. Rebecca
  9. Just trying to play with an old, old recipe I found in my gram's cookbook. It's a "simple olive oil" recipe. I can't get it to work. I tried to tweak it a bit, adding preservative and all that up to date jumbo. Basically, it's equal parts olive oil and water with lecithin added. The lecithin for binding the water and oil together. I need help with percentages. I really suck at math. So, for ex. if I'm using 1/2 c water and 1/2 c oil, what percentage of a binding emulsfier do I need to add, and what percentage of preservative? Thanks for any help! Rebecca
  10. I want to try and mimic some lip balm I bought, but I need to know percentages of ingredients... here's the ingredients: Olive Oil Beeswax Vitamin E Oil Flavoring I'm new to mixing my own lip balms and just need to know approx what amounts to add to make a firm lip balm. I'm going to be packaging in tins. thanks so much!! Rebecca
  11. maybe a rustic wreath with lights on it, hanging on the door? love the look and the name. Great choice.
  12. Good for you!! I'm so glad you did so well, and also glad you posted the way you felt, because that's exactly how I felt at the show I did Saturday, I was near two "natural" type of booths, by this I mean (and I certainly don't want to offend anyone at all but these two were loudmouthed and obnoxious ) they grew everything they used, everything was certified "organic", one woman made her own soaps and they were the BEST looking soaps I'd ever seen, but they both immediately made it clear that I wasn't "in their league" at all, because I use preservatives in my lotions and b&b items. Well, yeah, noone wants to be rubbing yummy little bacteria and germys into their skin with their lotions.... Anyway, I completely had that same feeling of wanting to cry and vomit at the same time. Long story short, people loved my lotions and I was constantly asked if I was a distributor for this company, I couldn't possibly have done this all myself. So congratulations, you obviously have wonderful stuff!!
  13. At the college, hoping for lotsa sales! It's right in town, and a well known show, all the downtown shops open early as this is our areas "start to the holiday shopping season".... The coordinator said I was the only lotion/b&b person, she was hoping I wasn't selling jewelry as there were at least 10 vendors doing that already. (That's why I quit that gig awhile ago....) Let's see, there's about 50 tables, spread out over the college student center,so wish me luck! and good luck to everyone else doing shows this weekend!
  14. Can I pour the base into a pan and slice em like you do with soaps? anyone know what I'm talking about? I'm confusing myself....
  15. blagh...well that was a disappointment, made about 2x booth fee....relatively slow but steady traffic, but apparently there were at least 4 other shows within 5 miles. I was the only lotion maker, only one soaper, and NO candles whatsoever. I was repeatedly told how professional my table and items looked, and one lady asked me what I was doing at a "rinky dink" show when I should be down the street at the big show. There was NOONE selling lotions at the "big show" which was a two day show. However, I did make some wonderful contacts and met some great people. So, live and learn I suppose. I am thinking about gambling and paying $100 for a big two day show over Thanksgiving weekend, with over 3000 attending....what the heck, it's really only $50 a day..... Rebecca
  16. not my first, but my first selling lotions. (in my other life I was a jewelry designer, tough gig there....) I'm excited and nervous....it's at a school in a rather well to do neighborhood, the coordinator told me they used to run a kids carnival at the same time but the crafters couldn't compete, didn't sell much at all, so they switched the carnival to a separate day all together. I've used up everything making lotions, sprays, body gels...I set up on my dining table to get a feel for the layout, and hubby casually meanders by, saying "hmm, I'd probably buy from ya..." gee thanks hun. Sorry to ramble on, just wanted to share my excitement with others who've been there, done that! wish me luck, Rebecca
  17. bottles, that is...hee hee... which do you think customers will prefer? All my samples I poured in tall skinny bottles, but for my upcoming shows I've used short n fat (cosmos vs boston rounds). I myself prefer the short n fat, even though I had to reformulate my labels to fit.... anyway, just wondering everyone's preferences. Rebecca
  18. just received an order from Brambleberry, very professional, very quick shipping....great scents. I ordered Spearmint Eucalyptus, great scent, not overpowering like some eucalyptus and just a touch of spearmint. They sent me a small (1oz?) bottle of Melon Tea, and WOW! I love it, I keep taking the cap off and smelling it. hth...
  19. jumping in with a quick question re the witch hazel spray, using as a body spray....can I add color? as long as it's a b&b safe colorant? (can you believe I hated chemistry in high school and college? jeez, I'm a mixing madwoman in my kitchen now...thanks to all of you...) Rebecca
  20. k....quick question, I have 100% pure orange essential oil....can I use this in my lotion making? I'm loving this scent and think it'll make some yummy lotion. It doesn't say anything on the label about whether it's skin safe or not. I also have a spectacular smelling 100% cinnamon essential oil, but it says on the label "not for topical use"....meaning, do u suppose, don't use this in your lotions stupid? Rebecca
  21. eek, that's why I leave the candle making to you experts, lol...my forte is lotions. I let my dh check out the scents (everything is stinky and girly-girl to him), and that's about the extent of his involvement. I give all my samples to my little 5 year old helper, she thinks i have the best job in the universe, lol. I've learned alot from this forum about buying candles at shows, now I know that just because a candle smells yummy doesn't mean it's the best to buy and burn.... Rebecca
