  1. Headed out the door to deliver candles as a surprise to the owner of the shop in town. I took a few pictures. A couple inside and then ran outside and stuck them in my flowers I have to plant. I really like how they came out with the silver zinc lid. I'll be wholesaling these to her for either 9.00 or 9.50 a jar. I'll think about it on my drive into town. I set them up in a basket of which I have burlap and lace in it to hold the candles with a glitzy floral/vine to give the whole look a somewhat springy look. Trappeur

  2. Ha! Never mind! I had been all over their website to see if they sold them separately and I JUST found them!

  3. Here is my tester with htp wick. Do people wick for complete melt on the sides? This was two long burns. I could go up a size. i did get a bubble burp when burning but the wax filled in immediately.

  4. Do you know if they’re PVC or PET? I saw a PVC label on my box when they arrived but I could of swore I read PET somewhere before. Also that some soy blends don’t have that problem whereas paraffin will.. it’s tricky. I really like them too so I’m hoping to figure out what’s off for me.

  5. I've never noticed any kind of skunky or off smell with Maple Street's clamshells. I love their quality. Even though I really like them, I think after this box, I may try to go a more sustainable route.

  6. Thanks Laura! Thank you for your feedback! Maple's say PVC on the box I received them in.. So that is a good point because I did hear that PET are better for clamshells supposedly. Something about PVC breaks down faster/is a thinner plastic? But I'm not 100% sure, I'm still new to clamshells..I thought everything was fine and dandy til I smelled that skunk smell and I tried to investigate to see what's going on.😂 I may just have to try a new supplier to see & some PET clamshells. I don't want to give up just yet. Appreciate your help! Thank you!

  7. Same here Belinda! It varies per oil/blend for me too. I love doing shapes too but I agree clams are very convenient, so it's a bummer to have to worry about what may or may not smell. I did see on Flaming Candle's site for their clams they said- "While we have heard of some wax melt clamshell molds having a plastic smell, our clamshells do not have a plastic smell. We have also found fragrances with vanilla create a burnt plastic smell in clamshells and do not recommend using vanilla scents or fragrances with a vanilla base in clamshells." But their clamshells are almost double the price of Maple.😯 I'm just wondering if that's the whole issue-- scents with vanillin in them picking up plastic?

  8. Well, have you tried it yet??? If mixing the 3 scents doesn't give you what you want, you may try layering the 3 pours...each will burn down into the next layer and so on.

  9. Hi Belinda! Just got them in and from just smelling them, Vanilla Butter Fudge, is a really nice strong scent and you can definitely smell the vanilla first and it ends with buttery undertones. The one from TCS is called Vanilla Fudge and it smells really strong as well, great vanilla scent, almost like a really sweet vanilla. Will have to see how they both work, but I am preferring the scent of RE's for an actual Vanilla Fudge scent.

  10. I can see this is going to be a toughy picking out a few labels to make up for a presentation as looks like there is going to be mixed reviews. Well anyway, please keep the posts coming and lets see which ones win out. Trappeur

  11. I use their clams and have noticed a funky smell at times but not with all oils. I noticed the same smell at times with other clams I used also. Where do you get yours from? I really would like to do shapes only or brittle in bags but clams are so convenient right now and I'd love to not have the funky smell!

  12. Yes it was and it was awful. I think they sell cheap for a reason. Their oils are so bad and weak I wouldn't sell or give away. I threw them away too. I had bought fresh from them. Never again. You do get what you pay for.

  13. Hi @gigglefits. I've never heard of that problem and I've never had that problem so far. I have been using a few different sizes of clam shells from Aztec and a shop on Amazon without any problems. I usually pour between 160-175 and the melts look and smell great. If I pour any cooler than 155-160 I usually get jump lines, bubbles or soft round edges. I use different waxes and blends of paraffin and soy. I don't know for certain if my clams shells are PVC or PET, I've seen both and some websites tell you and some don't. Maybe that's your issue?

  14. Etsy isn’t the world without going into detail. And mind you every summer they love to let their techs run wild and run stupid tests costing you money, so you better spread your wings in selling. Your new mantra Multiple Streams of income to acquire your own customer base. If you only sell on Etsy, you’re doing it wrong. You must have your own legit web presence. Your own website can give you your own identity and you own the customers. Yes, when Etsy started in with The shenanigans with the past CEO it really screwed itself, Sellers and customers. Fact. You will pay multiple fees everywhere so factor in those prices and shipping costs.

  15. Etsy was so much simpler to deal with before they went public.
