  1. Hi there! What was your pouring temp? Sometimes, depending on the wax, the pouring temp may be too hot. Or you may be pouring too fast which allows air to get trapped in the candle. I know whenever I see small holes, I got ahead of myself and poured too fast or the temp wasn't cool enough. But when that happens, I'll take a heat gun and remelt the tops, works like a charm.
  2. Morning everyone and thanks for you input. Well I did pour each a lavender and lemon essential in a 4 oz travel tin and let it set up over the weekend. I initially burned my lemon for @ 2 1/2 hours at work (we have a private restroom) and my co worker loved it. I also thought it was nice smelling, however when I got home and had more time to burn it, it started to smell like fuel. On the flip side, the lavender burned and smelled like a champ. I burned it overnight in my bathroom (I know don't judge me, lol) which is probably why I overslept this morning, lol. But it blew up my bedroom and hallway, so I think that's a winner! More testing to be done of course but thanks again everybody for your input.
  3. Hi Everybody! I've been asked to make an essenial oil soy wax candle. However in my research, I'm finding that some people who tried it, didn't state that the scent either wasn't strong enough or burned out too soon. Are there any candle makers here that use essential oils and it's working for you and/or customers? And if so, what is a recommended percertage per pound of soy wax? Thanks in advance for your input.
  4. Thanks everyone for your input. Very appreciate!
  5. No I don't have a link to show you because she did it through Periscope. She cooked it in a crockpot the night before and she scoped and showed the finished product the following day. It was mind blowing how beautiful they turned out! I've never tried oven process before, something else I need to try out, thanks for your post!
  6. Hi everybody! Not new here but it's been awhile since I posted in this section. I recently saw some hot process soaps by a bath n body biz owner and they were absolutely GORGEOUS! You really couldn't tell they were hot processed! I mean smooth in every way and now I wanna know how to do it. I read somewhere to add sodium lactate (sp)? but are there other ways to acheive that type of smoothness too? Just wondering. Can someone point me to a tutorial? Edited to add: I've been checking out Soapqueen's tutorial but there's nothing on HP. Thanks.
  7. I don't like the LX but I've never tried the ECO's. Thx, another trip to my supplier, lol!
  8. Thanks. The Libby Rocks jar is small but a tick wide. If I do a marathon burn, both the cd10 and htp 104 will burn all the way down but its that initial hangup that make me wanna say ugh! No hangups but I know when customers burn it, they're gonna look and say why is only one side burning better than the other? That's why I wanted a wick to burn straight up as oppose to the curl. Thx for the input!
  9. Thanks Trappeur! Yes, I agree that once it gets going it's good but I just don't like that initial hangup. I haven't tried premier wicks, hoping Old Glory will chime in here! Sorry meant to add that I use that ol 415 GW with a tad of beeswax.
  10. Hello everyone. Not my first time posting here but it's good be here again. I'm working with an 8 oz. Libby Rocks jar (with approx. 3 inch dia.) and wicking with both htp 104 and cd 10 to test. Although both burn ok, since they're both curlers (wick) one side gets hung up before it burns down. I'm wondering, is there a wick (already assembled) that the flame burns straight up and not curl to reach the rim and then down? I don't see the point in double wicking it since it's such a small jar. Thanks!
