  1. I have been trying to work on a hard bar that is also conditioning. I am beginning to wonder if it is possible to have both at the same time. I have put this through the calc. but can anyone give me suggestions because it seems to dry out my skin. LOL, either that or I just have super duper dry skin. I know the Coconut is drying, but it is also what makes it hard so I dont know how to get a good hard bar without so much of it. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. Palm 10% Shea 15% Coco butter 15% Coconut 35% Sunflower 5% Almond 5% Peanut 5% Grapeseed 5% Safflower 5%
  2. oh, i never thought of that one! I forgot the little kids ride the same bus as the high schoolers! Ok. Thanks. Ill give them that warning. So far so good. I think we got them all and I mixed my concoction with their shampoo and i am hoping we never see this again!
  3. Yes, those ingredients are what I have found researching. I decided to take the mixture and poured a couple of teaspoons of it into my girls shampoos. It is working great. We have to shake it up.....but we are getting a 2 in 1 effect and the girls love it and if it helps repell the boogers...I am thankful! I thought we were past this...I thought it was only little kids who got it. My kids never had it when they were little, but now that they are teenagers .... now that they are Sophmores.....GRRRRRRR....I would have never thought we would be dealing with this when they were older. Thanks everyone, for your input and suggestions. Really appreciated. I have also been looking up making a shampoo bar out of it. That may be the way to go.
  4. Thanks Bunny, yep we did all that you suggested. When the first girl got it a few months ago...we got it all gone. This is a new case. When I say I think they got it off of a chair...I am guessing the school chairs. Most girls have the long hair and I am thinking since there is only five minutes between classes....its possible if the student before had it that they got it that way. I don't know. My kids haven't gone anywhere and done anything else where they could have picked it up. Yeah, something is definitely missing from the recipie...but I have read several times that lice don't like those essential oils and will not stay when they are present....so maybe ill try to mix it in with their conditioner. Thanks for the help!!!
  5. ok, we did try it and it appears its more of a conditioner not shampoo. Duh. AND...OMG ...even with rump long hair and using about a dime size amount....our hair turned out soooo greasy. Anyone? Help?
  6. I have twin girls....16 yrs old. About two months ago, one twin brought lice into our home for the first time. We did the normal "Nix" stuff and the rest of the routine and all was well. Now the other twin has it. We did the whole routine all over again. I am thinking the reason they are getting it is because they all have hair down to their rumps and I am betting they are getting it off of the chairs at school...as they haven't been anywhere else to get it. They dont use other kids stuff etc. Anyway, I did some checking and found a recipie for a shampoo/conditioner that is said to help prevent lice from even wanting to stay on their heads to begin with. Of course we haven't tried it yet, but I thought I would share it with you all. I also have a question about the coconut oil....mine is hard...how do I get it to blend in for the shampoo? Recipie: 5 t. olive oil 5 t. coconut oil 1 t. lavender oil 1 t. eucalyptus oil 1 t. rosemary oil 1 t. tee tree oil 1 t. peppermint oil 1 t. castor oil (for lather) 8 oz. water
  7. OMG! If anyone likes floral scents.....I made this several weeks ago and just tried it for the first time tonight. The very second that I walked through the doorway of the bedroom...my hubby said...are you wearing a new perfume? It smells heavenly to me. I did 1 oz pp, but I am thinking it might be able to go a bit less since i can be smelled walking into a room! Oh...its Peaks!
  8. You mean you can add the lye to the GM? and use no water?
  9. I read a little more on it after Melly suggested it. From what I get....it doesn't really matter which. But I'm not sure...just what I am thinking. I appreciate everyones input. Thanks so much!
  10. Hi everyone. Its been months and months since I have been on. First, I want to say I love the new message board. I had to stop visiting here right after the crash so this is my first really good look around. I also love all the sticky helpfulls the mods have put up for us. Thanks so much mods! Secondly, I am looking for a white colorant for CP. I am not finding any so far. I would leave it natural but that comes out creamy....I want a true white...like Ivory soap. Any helpful info is appreciated. THANKS!
  11. Yeah, LOL...I made a raspberry and the family thought that wasn't too bad. But when it comes to smelling like baked goods...they don't care for that. Guess I better keep the baked goods scents (I love them) to candles. LOL I was thinking maybe the "natural" scents might be nice...like rain or something. Maybe even a babypowder or fresh laundry etc. I haven't smelled any of the designer scents. Im not big on perfume myself. I'm trying to find something the whole family wouldn't mind. I love all the comments so far!
  12. I asked this for the soap people and thought I would ask it for the candle folks too. What are you best sellers? What are your personal favorites?
  13. What is your favorite scents you have used in CP soap? I have been doing food scents and my family is not too thrilled. Whats your best sellers?
