  1. I wanted to know if anyone uses this and what is their opion or issues on it? I have been through several wax changes because everytime i find one and like it, use it and test my scents it become discontinued. Very expensive and frustrating. I got yet another wax from a vendor and was totally misled on what it was and melt/pour temps and just wasted my money. I was looking for mostly soy and got a 50/40/10 and mosty paraffin. I am no longer using that vendor as they would not make right on it. My frustration is getting to me and my biz and I just want to make candles again. Please help! :-/ Thanks!
  2. I am using a new wax for the 3rd time. The last one I used was discontined(a parasoy 70/30). The first one was Pure Soy. Both of them I had NO problem with Pumpkin Fudge burning. Why????? Cannot I not get it to burn in TN 70/30. This is my favorite scent ever and I have tried 3 different wicks. They are all tunneling and a VERY small flame. I have gone up in size as far as I am willing to go. Never had a problem with this before. I thought maybe I got bum wick so I tried them again...nope still tunneling. I use Zinc and not interested in another type of wick because I have not had any problesm with other scents but I need to find a size to burn this darn scent with. I have had no other problems with 51-32-18's or one up in all my other scents..even the heavy ones. I used 3oz FO by weight in 2#'s which is what I use for most scents. Starting to wonder if I got a bad batch of FO. Any suggestions?
  3. I use the 44's in an 8oz jelly jar and they burn fine but I use a soy blend. I was using the next size up and had alot of trouble with smoking and mushrooming. Better to leave a bit of wax on the sides than to have a black soot filled jar and huge mushrooms. 44's work great...candles burn longer and they still do the job.
  4. I bought fragrance in 1# bottles in the begining also...and found out I was stuck with fragrances that no one wanted. Spiked Egg Nog was one. I ended up with a bunch of candles that I had to give away or put in gift baskets with 2 other 'better' candles. After trial and error I have found my main Fall/Christmas line which consists of 10 scents. I could have had 25 if I wanted to waste the money and offer more variety but why??? I would say pick 5 if you are starting out...buy by the 1# bottle to save per ounce and order the basic scents everyone loves. You can always make special orders for people with a minimum quanity purchase if they really 'have to have' a scent. Also I state that I only sell these scents from Oct- Dec and when I run out I do not reorder. If they want Pumpkin Fudge....they need to order early. Works for me and gets me orders faster.
  5. Thank you. Flexiblemolds had a lot but not what I am looking for so I will check the other out. Might have to go back to that one though...saw lots of neat stuff.
  6. Hey All I do all chocolate and coffee gift baskets and thought putting some soaps in there would be kinda cool also... The baskets are all things chocolate and all things that are coffee. So maybe a coffee scrub and a hazelnut coffee soap would be kinda cool and some vanilla lotion. Dose anyone know where I can get soap molds that have the words or a look like a coffee cup or whatever related to coffee and/or chocolate on them.
  7. You can always go to the library and check out the soap making books before you buy them. I do that all the time and if I really like a book I will go on amazon and buy the used ones for a few bucks plus shipping. I checked out a few soapmaking books about a month ago but things have gotten crazy here and I did not even get to really read them...just looked through.
  8. Thank you for letting me know about the spray though. I may give that a whirl on some other things.
  9. I figured it out. I played around for 2 hours on one label to get it the way I wanted and printed it out to see what it would look like in Ink...lol I am using the white waterproof ones and the background is a sage green with black print. Since my colors are burgundy and green and my bottles are amber and black this will work out fine. I'm happy with it! One more thing to check off my mile long list.
  10. Thanks all....I am going to check these other options out. I am just trying to create a very upscale product. I have used another base before and it was not that great. So now I am trying to find the one with the best reviews. I might test out some of the stuff that is homemade first. ...if I ever get a chance. I have been working nonstop the past 2 weeks on a biz plan, and stuff for the bank so now I am in a waiting game and trying to get every thing I can done so I can open as soon as possible if this all goes through. Very stressful! Too many decisions to make! LOL
  11. Thanks Maggie! I was thining that the kraft paper would start coming apart easier than regular white matte labels.
  12. I just saw labels by the sheet has oval hang tags. Incase you didn't want to cut those all out.
  13. I figured the 2oz would be not much better and the bottles are so small. At least the 4oz bottle looks like a nice size. I think I will have to cut my loss here and sell it for less. I will make more off soap, lip balm and sold perfume anyway. Guess that is business. Some items you get a higher margin for and others you don't. Starting to think making my own base would be cheaper but I am already in over my head as it is.
  14. What do you all put in your massage oils as fragrance load. I have been out of the loop for quite a while and cannot find my notes on this. I am using coconut oil as the base but not sure how much FO an 8oz bottle of massge oil should have in it.
