  1. Trappeur, what kind of what do you use?  I am having a problem with when candle is first lit smells great, next burns the candle does not smell as strong.  I use Golden Brand 444.  I was wondering if it could be the wax.

  2. I have been using 444 for quite sometime now. I use 11 oz. tureen jars and I use two RRD 40's in this jar and the scent throw is really good. Have been having problems lately though, when the candle is first list the throw is awesome and then about half way, when lit there is no scent. Can't figure out what's going on. Marty
  3. I have been making soy candles for a long time and I use golden Brand 444 and use RRD wicks, size depending on container. I have been noticing lately that the candle burns and smells wonderful on the first burn. After that the candle burns really well but there is no scent. Can you help? thank you. Martha Landry
  4. I am using French Pear from Fillmore Container. It's one of the best oils ever. I use Golden Brand 444 Soy way and it throws like crazy. this is the first oil that I get that after the candle is unlit, the smell stays in the room for quite a while. Love it.
  5. Their Ginger Fig is awesome. Marty
  6. I use Baby Powder from Cajun Candle Supply. It is awesome. I dipped a few bears this weekend for a great niece's baby and a couple of my grand kids. I had to hurry and wrap them because using so much at one time was getting into my nose really bad. But is does do wonderful in candles also.
  7. Love the candles in those type of containers. I think they are so elegant. My neighbor gave me a pint size jar and it was painted with a light blue glass paint. So I decided to pour wax in it for a candle. I have to say it's beautiful burning as you can see the flame through the light blue paint. So of course, I went out and bought some glass paint and will do a few of these for Christmas.
  8. Thanks for your replies. No I do not do pillars. I was using this wick for a 12 oz. status jar which worked perfectly. I have ordered some and they sound just great, but when I get them, they are just not large enough, not strong enough, etc. I will just keep on looking. Again Thanks. Marty
  9. I was using a medium size wick on a spool from a company that has gone out of business. I think it was Wix and Wax or something like that. This type of wick was awesome and I have been unable to find anything comparable. TopofMurrayhill you stated in one of your posts that you use spooled cotton wicking. Can you help me find a supplier? I have tried ordering quite and few and have wasted a lot of money, because all seem to be too small. Thanks your your help. Marty
  10. I get mine from Southwest Candle Supply. It is awesome. Marty
  11. Your candles are beautiful. I do the same thing for Christmas Gifts. I look all year for some really old crystal containers and I fill with soy wax and give to my sisters and friends at Christmas. They love them.
  12. I have a questions about warmers. I have noticed that when I first put my wax on the warmer, the smell is strong and powerful. Then when I turn it back on again there is hardly any scent. I read somewhere about the bulb being too big and burning too hot. So I tried some smaller bulbs, but these do not even melt the wax. Any suggestions? Thanks. Marty
  13. Thank you both so much for your advice. Does make sense about the castor oil. I will try olive oil for the next ones and see if there is a difference. Again, thanks. Marty
