birdieluvr76
I had a request to make neon colored tarts. Is there such a thing as neon colored dye, and if so, where can I get it?? I looked online and nothing came up when I googled it.TIA
topofmurrayhill
Here's one place that has it.http://onestopcandle.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?page=OSC/CTGY/FCPJust don't use these in wicked candles, because they're pigments rather than dyes. Trish
I got the hot pink liquid dye from Lonestar and it is BRIGHT. I would definitely consider it neon!! LOL
Scented
I think it was Lonestar, but could have been Starrville that had some neon colors. Check with them and see.
Candle Man
Yes there is neon colors. I have used REDDIG-GLO COLOR CHIPSTM from pourette candle supplies http://www.pourette.com/product.asp?Product_Id=23109&d_Id=6951&l1=6950&l2=6951FYI - If you use neon color chips in wax they are a pigment and will glog the wick. In your case for wax melts the pigment color will settle to the bottom when melted. When I tested neon color chips I found the color is very hard to mix in wax because of the pigment. Also when the candle cooled the pigment settled to the bottom of the candle and made a two tone color, not a true bright color. Good luck with neon. If you find a neon color that works for you please post a pic so we can see. Thanks, Candle Man
Henryk
I think you mean those dayglo colors? Those are pigment and I've seen them in both block and chip forms.Chips: http://www.pourette.com/product.asp?Product_Id=23109&d_id=6951&l1=6950&l2=6951Blocks: http://www.candlechem.com/coloring.htm and http://www.candlesupply.com/dyes.html#fluorescentsI'm sure other places must have them too.The chips look like this (all I have is the orange ones - called "coral" from where I got them):

Good thing I never used these I guess then!So when it states "pigments" those are for things like over dips - but the powders - those can used (if you want) - I understand that now. The powders that Pourette and BCN sells are solvent dyes, which is the sort of thing used to make liquid candle dye or mixed with stearic to make color blocks and chips. They dissolve in solvent and more or less dissolve in wax. The pigments are actually powders too but they just float around instead of dissolving. BruceCarvesWax
Like candleman said the neon pigments will settle to the bottom (top) of the mold you are pouring into. Might have to pour at a lower temp to help this out or they could look strange. Bruce
