Sink holes.

Recommended Posts

I use 464 soy and I just switched from tins to mason jars. I'm getting super huge sink holes in them. All of them.  I haven't done anything different. Maybe I should? I pour at about 135 and it always gave me a nice smooth finish in the tins. I don't know what to do to fix it.

If by “sink holes” you mean the dip in the middle around the wick, It has to do with the mass / volume difference.

The shrinkage of the amount poured into the tin is less noticeable and the cooling rate is quicker so less visible shrink.

The mason jar is taller, the glass holds more heat, so the middle takes a lot longer to cool. Wax shrinks as it cools, with the middle shrinking last. The top has no choice but to settle downward.

If by sinkhols you mean cavities under the surface, that’s a different thing, but also related to shrink.
