wgregww
Why do my tops have this downward tapper from the outside then the climb back up the wick? Im using 6006 poured into warm glass at 170. Thanks
cindym
I always do a repour with 6006
Trappeur
The only thing I can think of is your repour temperature might be too hot? When I do a hotter repour that will happen to me. Hmmmm...but it sure is a beautiful candle you have there....so creamy and a nice sheen to the candle.... Trappeur
lightmyfire
I think it's beautiful! I also use 6006; it looks like you're using a fairly tall jar?

Trappeur Thanks, that is actually a single pour, no repour.
Forrest
I have had that happen several times, no idea why, my guess is that the wax solidifies on the glass and wick at the top first and then shrinks as it cools. Have you tried pouring at a lower temp?
TallTayl
It’s normal Shrinkage. The top seals over over and the sides solidify before the middle cools and shrinks. The wax has nowhere to go but inward in those softer spots. 2
lightmyfire
I use 6006 and I get that taper frequently but it never bothered me--I actually kind of like the way it looks! After I saw this post I tried pouring at 150 and the taper is history.

bfroberts
I'd try pouring a little cooler. ETA: Oops, just realized this was already answered. Edited November 13, 2018 by bfroberts

Hi ... do you mind me asking if you use 6006 straight? I saw previously you use it. I am thinking of giving it a go, as this summer is killing me! I made some testers last night and this morning they are swimming in oil (some Advanced I've been having trouble wicking!) I like 464 and hav been using a beautiful cocosoy blend , but they are all way too soft for our recent heatwave. Thankyou Edited January 15, 2019 by obsessed

I've tried blending it with other waxes in the past but I didn't find any benefit to that at all.
wthomas57
Several reasons: Taller jar than it is wide. (more shrinkage top to bottom) cover and cool them at a slower rate it happens sometimes with lots of waxes try pouring cooler I use 6006 a lot and rarely have issues that require any repours or topping off.
