Less is More...with melts

I know with candles that saying can be true with fragrance oil. Sometimes less is more.

Does that saying apply to wax melts?

I have come across 2 oils that smelled and performed better by reducing the percentage of fo.  So I know it can be the case sometimes

But, generally speaking, wouldn't more be more in a wax melt?

Oh my goodness no, some FOs can be so strong! Think about how many FOs smell off or just terrible OOB, when you get them in wax they bloom and you can suddenly pick out all the subtle notes and nuances. If you use too much, you'll lose a lot of the character of the fragrance. I test all my fragrances at different percentages to see what throws the best, not necessarily the strongest. It can range from 5-10% in my parrafin. But honestly, if I have a fragrance that needs 10%, I won't bother unless it is a "just-for-me-andIcannotlivewithouit!" fragrance.
