samirish
I was wondering which one, paraffin or soy, do you guys think give the longest lasting melts? Not so much the strength of the throw but rather, the longevity of the throw. Stacey
Jcandleattic
There are too many variables to answer this. Depends on the way the melt was made, additives added if any, type of wax (pillar, container, etc.,) and the type of melter used. Usually people will do a mix of soy and paraffin, so it depends, on the ratios as well...
ChrisR
Over the years I've made tarts out of paraffin, soy and parasoy and I personally like the parasoy the best as far as throw and longevity of the throw. You will get a different opinion from probably everyone you ask, so the best thing for you to do is experiment and see which you like best. KrisS
Aside from my follies with Ecosoya PB, the longevity of the throw seems to be largely dependent upon the FO that's being used. If a fragrance scents the test area for 48 hours, I'm unconcerned about which wax lasts longer. You'll need to do a lot of testing to see if you come to the same conclusion. I've been playing/testing for over a year, after a decade long hiatus. To do it and do it right, it's time consuming.
