e911
Greetings Everyone!! Long time no chat! Life has a certain funny way of keeping you distracted from the fun things of life! So I've finally decided that getting constantly rave reviews from folks at Christmas time with my little presents I make them, why not do it as a business in addition to my regular job. Well this task has been challenging! Trying to find suppliers for things has been one of the biggest challenges. I've decided to use Peak since they have just about everything I need at reasonable prices, but sadly their scent library isnt as large as I had hoped. I found Aromatic Fragrances International out of Georgia and they have tons of scents. I was wondering if anyone has dealt with them and what your thoughts are, good or bad. I know some scents are a dud, but I'm hoping not all of them are duds. Thanks everyone! James
Sonoma Roses
They are great to work with, but the 10lbs minimum per oil is more than I need of any one fragrance.. I have had some great ones and some bombs. They are generous with samples, but I would still rather only purchase 2 or 3lbs of each fragrance.
ChrisR
Yep they used to be one of my favorite suppliers until they went to the larger minimums. I still can't find a Baby Powder or Patchouli FO to compare with what they had. I miss them!!
Guest OldGlory
Their Apple Jack & Peel and Frasier Fir are great. Peppercorn Spice is strong and interesting but not what I was hoping for. Cactus & Sea Salt is good, Cinnamon Chai is good. That's all I remember.

ChrisR
Yes Shannon even better than Lebermuth's. The patchouli I had was so very close to the EO it was hard to know which was which, except the FO burned like a dream in candles. If I had some left I would give you the number, cause I had them tweak some samples years ago.
Guest OldGlory
Chris, do you think they have a record of your purchase at AFI? You could do a co op for the Patchouli FO. I would buy some.

I would go for a few lbs if it is great in candles.
e911
Thanks everyone. I saw they had large minimums which was a little troublesome but if I found some good ones, I wouldn't mind. I'm always open to other vendor suggestions as well! Want to have a good selection of scents available
ChrisR
I'll give them a call next week when I get a chance and let you know if they have any records.
pcbrook
I'll give them a call next week when I get a chance and let you know if they have any records. That would be awesome!! I would love to get in on that coop! I have yet to find a patchouli that does well in wax.
earthfriendly
Hopefully it is one of the three Patchouli's they have listed on their site. They also have a Patchouli Amber/ Autumn Walk type that sounds interesting.
Gsmakinsoap
If you have a good aged patchouli EO, could you use half as much as you would need to use if your were using an FO?
ChrisR
If you have a good aged patchouli EO, could you use half as much as you would need to use if your were using an FO? That's good in theory, but patchouli EO doesn't burn right in candles no matter how many size wicks you go up and it's way too expensive in tarts. I keep my good, aged patchouli for soap.
Guest OldGlory
Must be my luck with Premier wicks - I have no trouble wicking Patchouli EO in 464. I used .25 oz pp and it was perfect.
TallTayl
Bump. Chris, maybe after the holidays?
ChrisR
Yep Shannon I plan on calling them after the holidays and before my scheduled surgery the end of January.
AL83
I have had no issues with wicks and various Patchouli EOs... I use Eden Botanicals essential oils. I also use a Hemp-core wick which burns stronger and longer than traditional wicks. Maybe the hemp-core helps?
ChrisR
I started out using hemp wicks years ago and they made some great mushrooms, but didn't burn patchouli. Good, aged patchouli EO is good for soap though.....yum!!

The tabs unfortunately discolor with vanillin but no other issues with them.LOVE aged patchouli!! I get my Aged Patchouli from Liberty Naturals. ChrisR
I called Aromatic Fragrances yesterday after work and was told they no longer have any of my information from when it was Royal Aromatics. I do remember talking to them at the switch when the minimums jumped and telling them I would no longer be ordering because the minimum was too high. Sorry guys, I tried! Guest OldGlory
I ordered the Patchouli Amber - didn't much care for it.
PalmettoWaxWorks
I've ordered quite a few FO's from AFI, so far so good. I normally order 25 pounds at a time and sell off what I don't want to use. It's pretty easy to break it down in single pound bottles.
