How did your craft show go?

This past weekend I did another fall festival in West Virginia. I sold $900 of soap and two cases of candles (I only brought 3 cases of candles to this show as I don't do a lot of candles anymore).

My entire line of goat milk soaps sold out on the first day and I had to restock about 100 soaps in all Saturday night so I would have enough for Sunday. I got a wholesale account first thing Sunday morning and she walked off with $50 in soap for her new store! Almost all those soaps I replenished for Sunday sold out.

I also bought some freshly made apple butter. I love the fall festivals out here as they make a lot of apple butter on the spot and you can buy a freshly made jar still warm from the copper kettle!! The one I got was made with honeycrisp apples and cinnamon spice but no sugar. Its absolutely yummy and really sweet without any sugar. I also bought a bag of salted peanuts to snack on from another vender that sells Amish foods and goodies. Anyway I love the peanuts and the apple butter. It can be dangerous working a craft show if you have no filter to stop from buying all the goodies you see!!

I am happy that I made enough I can pay some bills.... and buy some much needed supplies!!

So how did you all do at your craft shows this week? What was your biggest seller and do you have any interesting stories to share??

I had one customer that shopped for a full 15 minutes in my booth without saying a word. I wondered if she couldn't talk so I didn't push her. But she didn't indicate that she was. That happened on Sunday and the rest of the day was kind of weird like that.

I am not doing shows/festivals but I am tickled to hear that you did so well! Congrats, you certainly deserved this uptick in business after being rained out of so many farmers markets.

That is great news.  So glad you did so well at the craft show.  I haven't had one in 3 weeks, weather canceled the last one.  I have my last one for NC this coming weekend.  I am ready.  I had 3 weeks to build up my inventory.

Lumina-- I hope you do well at your show!!!

Puma-- you cracked me up about your tarts and warmers! LOL But that is really great that they are selling so well for you! Keep it up and crank out that stock so you can sell the tar out of that! LOL

Old glory-- I really needed this past weekend. The sunshine and warmer weather really made a big difference. We have had too many rainy days as far as I am concerned. I have had to miss more than one or two markets/shows because of it!

I have another big 2-day craft show this weekend and hoping I have enough stock as I don't have time to make any this week. Plus I will be making a day trip to PA to Peaks and Fillmore to pick up wax, FOs, jars, etc. I don't make many candles but dang I am sold out of stock and need to make more ASAP!!

Good for you Candybee! I hope one day I'll get to do some nice craft shows. I've done a few, mostly small town stuff and one big one. Funny thing is I sold as much at the small ones as I did at the big one that was a real pain to do!

Hope you stay dry and have several more good shows!

Belinda I find that quite a few of the smaller craft shows can be very lucrative and fun to do! There are at least 3 shows I used to do that charged at least $175 fee and I found I was making more money at a $50 show. So I don't do them anymore. But it doesn't mean that I won't try one or two out every now and then. I try to do a new show every year to see if it's a good one for me to do. Sometimes it is and sometimes not so much.

The show I did this past weekend was $55 and I made close to $1000 so I would say it was a pretty good one for me. The one I am doing this weekend is $65 and I typically make about $700-$800 in past years. But this year my sales have increased so if its a good sunny weekend who knows?!! Hoping its a good one too!!

Congratulations on the great sales! Good luck on the upcoming shows. I did our yearly fall festival first week in October and we had drizzling rain most all day and the turn out was not as good as previous years, but I still had great sales. My best sellers were Oatmeal & Honey Goat milk soap, Beer soap w/ goat milk,  EO activated charcoal goat milk, EO sand & pumice Goat milk, variety of fo types. I sold lots of lotions, and some liquid soaps as well. Messy day but well worth it:)

Well, our show turned out pretty darned good today! We about froze while setting up this morning until the sun peaked over the hill and things felt so much better very quickly! This was our second year for this show and we were tickled to see some faces from last year show up! yea! We sold tart warmers, 8 oz square mason jars, several 16 oz square masons, 4 oz mason jars and the new chunk tart blends sold very well along with a few mish mash things like woods signs! We had a pretty nice increase of sales this year from last years, so that was nice. :) I'm ready to go find me another one to go to. :)
