sparks
I used GB 444 for tarts. I know it's a container wax, but I had great results. I was able to use certain molds, but the wax would have to sit up and congeal for a long period of time. Then I can into frosting issues with certain colors-mostly blue and purple, but that would vary as well. So I spent a couple months researching different paraffin waxes. I decided to go with 4625 pillar blend and 4627 comfort blend container wax(es). 4625 is hard as a rock and comfort blend is like vaseline. I went with a 60/40 blend. 60 was comfort blend wax. These two waxes mix very well together. The scent throw is amazing. The color is fantastic. The best part is the consistency of the blend. Its hard enough to make a chunk tart, but it is very easy to cut. I had to wait a day or so to cut the chunks, because the wax was sticking to my knife a little bit. Overall, this is a great blend for tarts. I'm going to try 80/20 for a scoopable wax blend.

kandlekrazy
Do you use 2 oz fo pp in the comfort blend? I looked into that wax some time ago and remember the mfg said 12% pp.
sparks
12% is applicable for 4627. I am doing 10% for wickless items. I have had great feedback with my wax melts.

sparks
Slight technical error above ^^^^ Here is what I have for my first test. I did do 70 (comfort blend) with 30 (Pillar blend - 4625). I made these last Thursday. I did a small batch to start testing with. These are scented with Strawberry Patch FO.
sparks
After a few days...I have made some notes. 1. After the cups sat a few days, it was real easy to pop these "shots" out of the cup.2. I am only testing with a 18w burner. I will get a 25w burner a test before I move forward3. Consistency: I test the wax with a plastic spoon. I had to apply SOME pressure with the plastic spoon, but not much. The wax released from the spoon (into the bowl) VERY well and there is not much wax on the spoon. 4. Throw: The scent throw is great...Hot & Cold. I did 10% fragrance load for this test. 5. Still concerned about the higher watt burners/hot plates! Edited November 9, 2015 by sparks
Belinda
Those look nice! What type of cups are those? I like the shape of them. Right now I'm using the oval cups and I like them but I think I like the round ones better.
sparks
Thank you! These are PP (#5) round 2 oz cups. I have the oval cups, but I changed my mind and bought the round cups.

Becky
If you were to wick that in a 4" diameter I would start with 44-28 zinc wicks, doubled up...
Guest OldGlory
JaimieLee, you will find a lot of information on wicks and other candlemaking info in the General Candlemaking section, rather than the wickless section. There's a lot to take in on Craftserver for newbies. This could help you navigate the board a bit better and get better advice.
WaxAttacks
I am using this blend, and think the ct and ht are amazing as well, but I'm having an issue with longevity. They are only lasting about 5-6 hours. Any suggestions on how to make them last longer?
Jcandleattic
Just now, WaxAttacks said: I am using this blend, and think the ct and ht are amazing as well, but I'm having an issue with longevity. That would be the first thing I look at, and go from there.
WaxAttacks
Good idea Jc, I think the ones I'm using are all between 20-24 watts. What warmer and wattage would you recommend?
