Heaven-Cynt
Hello everyone. Not my first time posting here but it's good be here again. I'm working with an 8 oz. Libby Rocks jar (with approx. 3 inch dia.) and wicking with both htp 104 and cd 10 to test. Although both burn ok, since they're both curlers (wick) one side gets hung up before it burns down. I'm wondering, is there a wick (already assembled) that the flame burns straight up and not curl to reach the rim and then down? I don't see the point in double wicking it since it's such a small jar. Thanks!
Trappeur
Good choice wicks for that jar! Once you burn further down the jar, you won't see the curling as a problem and it should be ok. Definitely don't need to double wick that jar. What wax are you using. Have you done any premiers? Old Glory has wonderful success with those wicks. I'm sure she will come along and give her advice. Heaven-Cynt
Thanks Trappeur! Yes, I agree that once it gets going it's good but I just don't like that initial hangup. I haven't tried premier wicks, hoping Old Glory will chime in here! Sorry meant to add that I use that ol 415 GW with a tad of beeswax. Trappeur
It sounds good to me...and that little hangup is fine....It's just the way those wicks work. I've been using those wicks and nothing but those 2 style wicks for years and sell to stores and never not once did I ever have a complaint. You want a little hangup in the beginning also so sounds good to me! Trappeur
grama
Years ago someone here said to twist your wick and as it burns it will "untwist" and your candle will burn even. I use cd wicks and have been doing this for years and it does work! I put my wick clip on to hold my wick and then just twist/turn my jar around several times.

lmc
I love Premier wicks, they do give an even burn With C3 and 3022 in a 16oz mason jar, I use a Pre790 for most fo's. If you would like a few to test, email your address to me at avlynette@gmail.com

GoldieMN
GoldieMN, I use the pint regular mouth with the Pre790. Interesting that the jar doesn't get too hot. The highest wick recommended in the Premier chart for that size opening is 770. I tried a few 780's but would like to go higher for hot throw. Went to 780 as suggested in previous posts as the least I should be trying but still not happy. I jerked out a 780 and replaced with a sample 790. Jar doesn't seem any hotter and better throw! Guest OldGlory
I use a 785 or 790 in 8 oz tins, but would go down a bit if possible in a tall glass jar.
Heaven-Cynt
I use a 785 or 790 in 8 oz tins, but would go down a bit if possible in a tall glass jar. Thanks. The Libby Rocks jar is small but a tick wide. If I do a marathon burn, both the cd10 and htp 104 will burn all the way down but its that initial hangup that make me wanna say ugh! No hangups but I know when customers burn it, they're gonna look and say why is only one side burning better than the other? That's why I wanted a wick to burn straight up as oppose to the curl. Thx for the input!
chuck_35550
LX or ECO are other considerations.
Heaven-Cynt
LX or ECO are other considerations. I don't like the LX but I've never tried the ECO's. Thx, another trip to my supplier, lol!
