mzphee
has anyone found a lid for this jar yet? I really would like to continue using but Im losing the cold throw without a lid. for craft shows I was using Glad press and seal and it works very well. But I will be moving into my boutique and would like a more elegant look... any help?
Guest OldGlory
I have searched high and low, sent out numerous emails, nada. It is beyond my comprehension why some company that already makes lids doesn't make a mold and crank these out. Dollar Tree puts them in the hands of thousands of candlemakers!I made a dustcover from cardboard - cut it out, apply a label, and viola! kandlekrazy
Barnwick makes wood lids that are round for resale, I wonder if they would begin making the square if they knew there is a demand for them? Their wood wicks and lids are availnow at woodcandlewick.com We could all make a joint effort and start emailing or calling them...lol...blow up their phones!
Guest OldGlory
There are a few companies that make a square pvc dust cover, but not in that size. I'd like someone to make them to fit the 12 oz Libbey Square.

Guest OldGlory
Thank you I'm testing Aztec wood wicks with the 6006 it's ok I will try BCN I've been wanting to test 464 againAztec is 1/2 hour from my house, so I buy everything I can from them to save on shipping. I had no luck with their woodwicks in 464, and the clip that holds the wick is substandard - too thin. Plus, what the heck is the liquid they soak them in?? Guest OldGlory
Here a picture of the cardboard lid I made. I crossed out some info on the label. It's cardboard with a label on it, and acrylic spray on the top (not the bottom because the spray stinks). kandlekrazy
The large square lid from Lonestar doesn't fit???Someone carried rolls of sticky type covers with holes to sniff, but I can't for the life of me remember who. You could use the same one on several size jars, I wasn't crazy aboutthe sticky so I quit using them. I thought about cutting them just to the size of the top but then I quit using a square jar. You might be able to make your own? Edited July 29, 2015 by kandlekrazy

Alajane
OldGlory, I love your dust cover. What is the string on the corner tied to--a hole in the lid to make removal of the cover easier? I love these jars and haven't used them much because I wanted a cover, so I think I'll copy you! I'm assuming you don't mind since you posted it here. Thanks for the tip,Jane

Trappeur
Let me run this by everyone in regards to looking for a nice lid for the cube jar to get everyones opinion. Well, I bought some of the cubes just for myself at a Dollar Tree store that just opened up here. I'm not into the smaller jars for myself personally as I like the biggins.......but I've always been very attracted to them and thought, well, geesh maybe I could offer another style jar to a store. Well I made up 4 jars with a Toasted Marshmallow that I received from Indiana and did 2 wicks and then 1 wick...and first off the scent was just so wonderful and very very potent great thrower for such a small jar. I wound up finally selecting 1 wick.....But like everyone has always said; no lids.... Ok, this is what I'm doing this week. I'm making my own wood lid that will have some type of little handle/knob.....I'm thinking a twisted little maybe twig branch....as you all know, I'm rustic....It will not be a snug fitting lid with the plastic fitment like you see on lids that fit real tight. I myself would prefer definitely a tight fitting lid, but I'm not going to get involved like a big manufacturer where they can afford to have a company make the plastic fitment to go on lids...because....well, I'm not financially well off! lol......so....I've been looking online and went in quite a few stores these past few weeks looking at candles they sold and I was really amazed at how many companies sell candles that have a loose fitting lid or one that just sits on top of the jar...so I'm going to give this a whirl. I know I can make a fabulous looking wooden lid..I just know it and if I can I might even maybe sell to others wholesale...this is just a thought. If this works, I could custom make any size. And in beautiful finishes or even painted finishes. Does this sound appealing to some of you??? I've attached a few pictures that I found on the internet of different style lids of which I'm going to do a take off from. I'm not going to copy them and I hope I don't get in trouble for putting up pictures as I just wanted to give an idea of what I am going to do and just thought I would run this by everyone. I just thought for those of us who are looking to be different and have our own look and be able to even buy a lid for a particular jar is a problem as there are jars we just love that do not even come with lids.....geesh, what do these manufacturers even think? So many I know could secure a lot more business if they offered lids...... Here is what I'm thinking of doing as far as what the lid would look like. I thought this was a great looking lid.I don't know if the lid comes with the glass jar, but loved the whole thing, jar and lid. Only thing is you have to order 1000's of the product as it comes from overseas and I certainly can't afford it. Now in this picture, just imagine a lid in one of those finishes as shown in the picture....From the weathered grey barnboard finish to the natural to the dark aged wood, I think a lid in one of these finishes would be dynamite. Even a white wash depending on the look jar your going with or what your label looks like. Would be beautiful. I could even see a painted lid finished in a painted distress look as in 1 of these finishes. Or how about a white wash/pickled finish look? I love the dark oak finish here....very sleek and handsome. I would basically make the lids like this but a little deeper the inset would be. I'll have to make a couple designs as the lid could overhange over the jar a teeney bit or make it to sit evenly with the jar. ANY SUGGESTIONS? Now as far as an added detail I love the look some type of knob or little detail on the lid....I thought this was a great looking wooden box...beautiful workmanship of artistry here. Now imagine this....if I cut out a piece of thin wood, like on this box and lay it down on its side so it is laying flush on the lid of which I would glue, maybe do an etching....nawww...too costly but maybe a stamp of something on top of this little piece of wood. My mind is just going thinking all different things....but the thing to do is keep it very simple and very cost effective.... Well, these are all just ideas and I am going to do a couple lids this week and I'll get some pictures up....who knows.....maybe I could do something like this to make extra money and make lids! ha! Inbetween making candles....lol Thanks for looking and give me ideas! Trappeur
Trappeur
So.....what would be a good price that you would pay for a beautiful lid if you were on the hunt? I really need to go look and start pricing them out as I really haven't done that. I know.....cheap, cheap, cheap......yep I agree.... Guest OldGlory
Barnwood! That distressed grey-ish look really appeals to me with undyed soy waxes. But, I also know that you make such gorgeous wood pieces and use rustic colors - I am open to suggestions. Keep the costs down (please) but you have to make a profit. I don't know if a little knob on top is really necessary. My client might be open to this product.I went to AAA to see about ordering some samples of their lids but gosh shipping is so high that I just emptied my shopping cart. I'm spoiled with Aztec so near.
Nancy63
Trappeur these are awesome looking and certainly fills a missing need in the candle community. I agree with OG if you can keep costs down while still making it worth your while, you will have definitly scored here!

GoldieMN
OMGosh, I LOVE the barnwood look, rustic as well as painted! They look labor intensive, though. I probably would want to keep my cost for jar and lid to 20-25% of retail price. Right now, my cost for jar and lid is about 11%.Goldie
