Candybee
Made some soaps using pumice about 2 weeks ago. Got the pumice from Camden. Its super fine ground volcanic pumice. It's an ashy, whitish, gray color and feels just like ultra fine ground sand. Its so lovely in soap! I can't wait to debut my pumice soaps in time for summer. I always get asked for gardener's soap and so far this now my favorite exfoliant. I love a good colloidal oatmeal but it doesn't 'feel' like an exfoliant and when I grind oatmeal myself it feels way too scratchy on my skin so I only use colloidal. Anyway, I made one soap with 1 rounded tsp, and the other I used 2 rounded tsp pumice. Both recipes are for a 3 1/2 lb batch. I've tried all kinds of exfoliants; seeds, ground herbs, teas, even cornmeal. All were just too scratchy feeling for me. But the pumice feels just right. Can't believe I never tried it before but glad I did. Its so darn cheap too the 1 lb bag I got for a couple bucks will last me forever. Jcandleattic
I love pumice and very finely ground coffee grounds, but only for coffee scented gardners and mechanics soaps.
