Using Pumice in CP

I guess I will be using it blindly. I have a line of exfoliation soaps so always looking for good exfoliants. So far I've used seeds, ground oatmeal, coffee grounds, cornmeal, dried herbs. Most are just way too scratchy so always looking for milder alternatives.

Colloidal oatmeal is okay but you get no scrubby and ground oatmeal is just way too scratchy for me.

So lately I have been thinking of using almond meal and fine ground pumice. I would like to have a gentle, mild scrub and one thats more scrubby without being so scratchy and abrasive it feels like sandpaper. KWIM?

I make pumice soap.  Depending on how much exfoliation you want, just adjust the amount of

pumice.  I used 1 tbls in my recent 2 lb batch....and I thought was perfect. Not too scratchy.

I would start off with that...and adjust from there to your preference.

Thank you so much for that. I was thinking of starting with 1 tsp up to 1 tbs PPO. Just not sure how much. I want a super mild scrub and one that's got a stronger scrub.

One question, do you use the fine ground or the extra fine? I bought the extra fine ground.

I am not sure what mine is since  I got it free from a relative that

used to soap and it was in a clear plain container.  I have a huge container of it LOL.

It is very very fine.  I would say for a super mild go with the tsp.  I used 1 tbls for the whole

2 pound batch.

Thanks Debratant! I make 5 lb batches and think 1 tbs for the whole batch will be what I start with and adjust the next batch as needed.

The super fine ground pumice is really cheap at Camden. I got a lb for $2.50. My order should arrive tomorrow. Can't wait to check it out. I also ordered some dead sea salt and almond meal.

My pumice just arrived today! It feels and looks great. Can't wait to try it in some soap. I got the smallest size (1 lb) that Camden Grey had. Well, it was the only size they sell. This will last me forever! LOL Well, a really long time anyway!!

When I can get around to using it I'll let you all know how I like it.

I look forward to hearing how you like it!  It may thicken your trace in CP.  It made my latest batch a bit thick...but not horribly unmanageable.

Then again, I was trying the new to me making a mantra swirl...and was lolly gagging around with colors and pouring so mine was like

pudding going in the mold.

Our friend loves pumice soap for washing his hands in his garage.   He is also our vet, so I supply him with free soap all year

for a few dollars off our yearly vet bill LOL.
