Shipping - it's a joke!

Now I know my computer is slow, but I just spent an hour ordering 10 one oz FO samples on the Fillmore Container website (they are in PA, I'm in TN) only to find out that shipping those tiny bottles will cost me $20. Are you kidding me? Less than one pound of content and a very small box is $20? This is insanity. I refuse to do business with companies who gouge. I don't care how good their FOs are, I will make do with another.

The fact that it took me an hour to do it is just insult to injury. Grrrrrrr

All shipping has gone up so much it's ridiculous- I maiked my sister in Pheonix a tiny box from UPS and it cost 30.00 regular ground ship which apparently you have to pay for tracking now too and it took a week for her to get it!

I have zero candle supply companies near me and I am ready to just plain quit!

You would think since most suppliers' main reasoning for the high shipping prices was due to the price of gas that the shipping costs would be going down right along with the gas prices.

I wonder how long consumers are going to put of with these high prices before flat out protesting.

I'm so lucking I have 2-3 suppliers within driving range and a few others only a state or 2 away... Otherwise I'd be up in arms right along with y'all.

That is disgusting Old Glory...I feel for you..

Last night this is what I had in my shopping cart:
8 oz  peach nectar

4 oz mulled cider

1 ozvanilla hazelnut

shipping was 7.05

What I really wanted was 2 oz of the vanilla hazelnut instead of 1 and the shipping jumped to 17.55.  So 10.00 more for 1 oz?  unbelievable.

And then on top of it when I typed in the 2 oz, they advised there was only 1 oz available and if I wanted it, it would have to come from their other site and I would have to pay 15.00 shipping for that 1 oz?   There is something wrong in Denmark somewhere.....

They emailed me and asked me to go back and check out. I responded to their email with my reason for not checking out and told them they could clear my cart if they wanted to. They need to know that their shipping practices will cost them business.

Just as a comparison, another company shipped 5 one oz samples to me - cost me $5.85 shipping. Another company shipped me a 4 oz sample in a 6"x6"x6" box from UTAH (how many 1 oz samples will fit in that? lol) and it cost me $12.59. Both boxes arrived by usps in 2 days.

I will go out on a limb and say that Fillmore gets a mail drop from usps daily and could have boxes picked up at that time.

AND... Fedex now has a flat rate box that ships for less than $8. I don't know how big that box is, but probably close to the size of the small usps box.

You can't expect suppliers to ship FOs by USPS. I know some do it but they do it at the risk of getting caught. Its illegal to ship FOs with a FP below 200 by air and USPS ships by air. UPS and Fedex ship by ground.

Most suppliers offer small shipments by usps.

Fedex now offers 'one rate' shipping. You can look it up on the Fedex website. Shipping starts at $7.50, and goes up depending on the size and type of package and distance for shipping. You have to drop it off at a Fedex retail location.

Boy, do I agree about shipping charges. We just paid $600 for freight for two pallets of glassware. $600!!! Our wholesale and online customers scream about what we charge them, but we only charge what the shipper charges us; we eat the packaging materials cost. It has become such a PITA to find the best rate, then notify the customer, then box up the orders that we are going to a standard cart on our website, when it is redesigned. And that is a nightmare with multiple products of varying weights. We are trying to set the cart up so that it does not cost us much or anything, but so far,,I don't know. We have tried bumping our prices up to cover shipping and then offering "free shipping", but customers say we are too high, and it hurts sales. Go figure. A $12 item with $3 shipping sells great, but a $15 item with free shipping does not. Ah well......

Soapalooza (Kelly Bloom's company that sells many of her old Southern Scents FOs) has a $5.95 deal. I got eight 1 oz samples and a 4 oz bottle for $5.95 shipping. So, how can one company do it, but not another?

I can answer this! Lol

Yankee can sell and ship items for much different shipping pricing that I can :)

Its about size, sales, and power.... that's how. lol. No but seriously, many businesses have access to shipping discounts and special rates that others do not.

Not saying that is the case here... but it does happen a lot.
