Question about LX and CD wicks...need an inbetween size help please..

Recommended Posts

Okay thank you!! I was going to start with the 16! I'm using 464 no dye and CD 8's have been great with most of my fo's in jj's but I just need a little kick and not go to a cd 10. I'm probably being silly. lol. I use LX's in my paraffin pillars. Thanks again :)

Oceangazer-- I tend to use LX only for pillars. I just don't get great hot throw with them in containers especially soy containers. I guess that doesn't help you much just thought I would let you know my experience with them. I remember reading about them a while back and finding out they were designed to burn in pillars and then it made sense to me.

CSN's are designed specifically for glass glow palm. You can use them in soy but I doubt they are the best choice for soy.

I would also try CDNs, HTPs, or Premiers. Old Glory seems to be the resident expert on Premiers so you may want to PM her for size suggestions.

Thank you so much Darlin...but I can't even think about trying more wicks. I use LX's in my pillars too...all paraffin. I have cottons and ecos that I have more hated than not in soy containers. I just really want to  make my CD's work just because they do burn nicely...just looking for the in between. lol. I'm assuming cdn's are cd's with natural wax coating. Where would I find them. I use sizes from 8's up TY :) So CS decided to carry csn's that are geared for palm, and they don't carry palm wax anymore. They totally confuse me. I tell ya. smh

It is a bit confusing about the CSN wicks unless you know the history of them. CS commissioned Wedo (one of the largest top 5 international wick manufacturers) to produce a wick designed specifically for glass glow palm wax. At the time CS carried glass glow and had spent much time in Malaysia traveling to the manufacturing sites and speaking with the members of the Roundtable for sustainable palm wax. So they invested much money and effort into the product for sure.

Once they decided to no longer sell glass glow, they decided to continue carrying the CSN wicks for their customers that used them. That is why you will only find them at CS as they are a proprietary product. I am glad they continue to carry them because many including myself continue to use them exclusively for our palm candles.

RRD wicks were the original wicks Wedo manufactured for palm in general and are a great wick series also for palm. But I prefer CSN's because they are wax specific and I can see the difference in the candle burn.

If your CD10 is to hot in soy try the CDN10- they burn much cooler in my experience- same wick but different coating and that makes a world of difference in burn

In my jars if a CD12 is to much at the end and a 10 isn't enough usually always the CDN12 is the perfect fit.....they throw great and burn just like the CD

I get mine from southwest candle supply- they have the perfect tab height and are very reasonable in price
