Best clean up methods

Recommended Posts

I use tons of paper towels, my heat gun and alcohol. After I pour, I wipe my pouring pot out with paper towel. Then I put some alcohol on the paper towel and wipe it out again to remove any left over scent. I wipe down my thermometer and spoons with alcohol too. If there's any hard wax, I melt it with the heat gun and then wipe up the wax. Done and done!

Exactly as the others have said. Paper towels, heat gun and either alcohol or mineral oil (I use mineral oil, it works the same as alcohol and will dissolve any wax residue left as well)

I know there are some people who wash their soy with soap and water, but I don't work with soy - and even if I did, I really don't think I would do this.

Yes, I don't rinse my molds after using the mineral oil, I let it help season the molds, and just wipe with a clean paper towel afterward.

I do rinse/wash off any counter space I have cleaned with the mineral oil though to get the residue off after it has dissolved the waxy spots.

Ever tried getting wax out of a sponge?

You would have to wipe out the wax with paper towels first before you used a sponge. So it doesn't make sense to me to use one.

I've been doing this for years and the best method I have found is using paper towels to soak up the wax and wipe out the pot. You can then use wet wipes if you want to clean out the scent.

Now I no longer use wet wipes because I have found it really isn't necessary. If the pot has been cleaned up nicely with paper towels the lingering scent won't get passed on.

I just buy the cheap brands of paper towels and use lots of them for cleanup. I buy the 50 cent rolls of paper towels. Work great and very, very, cheap.
