soap_nut
Hi, I'm wondering who you all use for your essential oils? Looking to see who has the best quality for the best price. I haven't used many essential oils in my soaps due to cost but would like to use more.
CareBear
Depends on where you live and what quantity of each you need. For larger amounts I like New Directions.
Candybee
I agree. A lot can depend on how much you need and where you are for shipping costs. I started out buying my EOs from Soap Making Resource because I could buy in smaller amounts of 2 and 4 oz bottles to test. I get good shipping rates and fast service plus their EOs are mostly moderately priced. I was not disappointed with any of them. They are good quality oils and I really like the certification they send with each oil. I have also bought EOs from Essential Depot but not very many. For right now while I am trying out new oils and blends I find its cheaper to buy from a reliable source where I am also buying other soaping supplies to cut down the cost of shipping. So when I order supplies from SMR I add a few EOs to try out. Some other places to buy EOs are Camden Grey and Eden Botanicals. I haven't bought anything from them yet but I have read good reviews from them. I did order supplies once from Bulk Apothecary and thought they were overpriced but the quality was good. soap_nut
Thanks for the suggestions CareBear and Candybee. These are all places that are new to me so will be great to take a look I'll probably go with smaller quantities at first until I figure out what I like. It's interesting as I've looked at some of my "go to" places how much the prices vary.
HorseScentS
What about buying EOs from the local health food store or herb shop? Wouldn't they be cheaper since you don't pay shipping?
Candybee
Not really. I don't find them cheaper at all even without having to pay for shipping. They are always way overpriced and you can't determine the quality or purity which is something absolutely necessary to me to know before purchasing any EO. soap_nut
I did look into buying essential oils locally but suprisingly like others they are more expensive even without shipping. I ended up getting some from Soap Making Resource and am excited to try them out in a few recipes today.
Candybee
You won't be disappointed. I love their EOs and they have some good prices on most of them. I do wish they carried more thou.
