Hi everyone i'm this close to giving up on pillars.

Can't seem to get the wick right without it dripping. I know people do not burn their candles  for less than

3 hours so I am testing by doing power burn,

Here is what i have

CSP 1 - Candlewic

6% oil

Dye chip

Both candles are same formula just different color

The left is wicked with ECO 10 the right is wicked with ECO 12 They have been burning for 6hrs

What is your take?

Hi Mannie! Maybe the resolution on my laptop is bad, but it's hard for me to get a good look at your pillars because the pics are blurry. I would say to go with the smallest wick that will still burn the candle top to bottom. In my opinion, a thin wall is what you want - maybe 1/4 - 1/3" thick. But my only experience is with paraffin, so please keep that in mind.

It's not easy to get the wicking thing just right, but it looks like you are doing pretty well now.

I wick differently than most :) I think pillars should self consume and that is how I wick them. I use straight pillar paraffin wax and make chunky rustic and mottled. Most of my pillars I use an lx 18-20. I have instructions on how to burn them and when they are finished there is hardly any wax left. Everyone loves them :)

Keep burning them in 3 or 4 hour increments. I think there's a good chance the one on the right is going to blow out - meaning, the wall will burn thru and spill.

After the pillar has burned for the allotted time, is the top of the wax wall pliable enough to gently squeeze it in? - just the top half inch is what you would gently squeeze in. When you do this with paraffin, as the wax continues to burn it sorta keeps rolling in a bit. I will add a picture of this at the end. Since I have no experience with the wax you are using, I don't know if you wax will do that or not.

Don't give up Mannie, you are almost there. One of those candles is probably going to have the right wick in it. Do they have fragrance in them? Fragrance will effect the burn too, and will change your results.

See how the top looks rolled in a bit? After letting the candle burn 3 hours, I extinguished the flame and gently squeezed the top 1/2 inch. This sets a pattern and the candle continues to roll in and consume as it burns.

Well, try it with your wax first. This is just something for you to experiment with since we use different waxes.

With my wax, you "hug" the top as needed, as it continues to burn.

Sorry, I went back to the top and see that you are using 6% FO.

It looks to me like you've hit it spot on with the one on the left.  It's consuming itself with no blowout and no rolling like the one on the right.  The one on the right most likely has too big a wick.  Nice work!  Pillars are tough - I finally gave up.
