Ray
Ordered campfire smoke for the second time from bittercreek and I think something is wrong with the oil. The first bottle the oil was lighter in color. The second bottle was much darker and had a lot of sediment on the bottom of the bottle. Anyway, never got a strong scent throw from either bottle. Is there another similar oil from a different company that anyone has tried? Looking for a true smoky fire scent minus any fruity or flowery notes. kfintoni
I just tried Smoked Birch from Candlewic and it is a real good smokey scent. I have tried a bunch and I like this the best so far. Karen in MA

rctfavr3
I like Wellington's Campfire (burning woods). SOS has a good one called Firewood (burnt wood + soot) that smells uber realistic too.

amanda
Ray-- OOB it I definitely smell the pine and citrus right away. Hopefully when I get it in wax, it'll smell more earthy/smokey

mzpickles
Campfire from The Candle Source is very authentic smelling!
Ray
I ordered up fireplace from just scent. we'll see how that works. Sure can get expensive ordering these oils. I'm trying to stick to just a couple suppliers so when it's time to reorder I don't get hammered on shipping. I really don't want to carry 100 different scents from a dozen different suppliers! Buying oils can be an addiction that I don't want to take on! Thank you for the responses. MUCH appreciated!
rctfavr3
Anyone still looking...Gemlite has Fireplace. It's a YC dupe. It's not exactly Christmasy but that's how I plan on using it. They have a lot of Christmas fragrances too! Edited November 17, 2014 by rctfavr3
amanda
Update on NG's crackling fireplace: awesome HT and smells just like pine burning in a fireplace. I'm deeming it a keeper. Now the question is, what color is a fireplace candle? Brown? Grey? Orangy-red?
Ray
Thanks for the update Amanda. Might just have to try that one. Tried Fireplace from Just Scent and...wow, smells like cologne. Strong and nasty. I don't color the wax, but would probably go with grey for this scent if I did Edited November 21, 2014 by Ray
LeahRB
I had better luck with Bittercreek's Campfire Smoke than The Candlesource's. I tested it in J50 and it was really good. Maybe you got a bad oil? I mix Bittercreek's Campfire Smoke in equal amounts with Peak's Autumn Walk and It is awesome. Ray
Yes, I believe I did get a bad oil from bittercreek. Just didn't look right in the bottle "milky brown" in color with a lot of sediment on the bottom of the bottle. Smelled very weak.
Trappeur
Have you ever tried Crackling Firewood from Wholesale Supplies Plus? This to me is the best most truest smokey firewood fragrance I have every tried. It truly smells like a fireplace burning without a doubt. It says in the description there is a touch of raspberry. Well, I don't detect that at all. But it is a bugger to wick and takes a larger wick. Trappeur
Ray
Nope, haven't tried crackling firewood from WSP. Thanks for the recommendation. Yesterday I ordered crackling fireplace from NG that Amanda talked about. I'll see if that's what i'm looking for. If not, I'll probably try crackling firewood. hahaha...by the time I find the one I like it will be summer!

coffeebean
So I received the firewood oil from LS and it smells like something else in it along with the smoky smell I was looking for. I will be testing it today. What I'm looking for is one that smells just like a fire burning without all the added other notes.

coffeebean
Tested the firewood from LS and had hardly any throw at all. I even moved the candles to my small bathroom and still didn't fill that small area. Cracklin Birch from NG throws like crazy in soy, people love it, but I'm looking for straight wood burning smell, so now I'm trying Campfire from candle source.
